New potential tire for the M3/4

In my never ending quest to find the best tire for traction for the M4 for daily use, I just came upon the new Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R.

Looks like a replacement for the RE-11 and RE-11A and is said to be faster on the track than those tires. As a bonus, it comes in OEM 19" sizes for the M4.

I love grippy tires These might be good tires for those who want super street grip or a dual street/track tire.

Looks interesting if they can get some larger 19" sizing.

I loved my re 11s when I had my STi. A bit scary in the rain at times though, especially when they start being worn, which they did fairly quick. Excited to see how these perform.

I loved RE11's and liked RE11a's (original 11's were better) on my MCS.
I thought both were better in terms of overall grip and performance at the limit than Michelin PSS, on the same car.

RE71R's appear to be brand spanking new.
Not a single review or test, but Bridestone claims they are an improvement on RE11's:

Go buy them, and let us all know how you like them !

200AA looks like a solid compromise to the 300AA MPSS.

My only reservation is the commentary on the tire is that it has reduced hydroplaning resistance and there are warnings for driving in heavy rain/standing water. That makes me a bit nervous for a tire that would be a DD tire on my car... if it was a track only tire then I'd have a different opinion.

I'll be interested to see how reviews feel about wet traction. If it is "OK" then I don't mind that given the likely very strong dry performance.

Yeah, true.

It won't be an option for me if other sizes don't show up. Plus, it's going to be hard to resist MPSS at pretty close prices to these. I've always enjoyed MPSS, and it's my tried and true tire.

i'm currently working a track setup plan with kevin @ eas ... i have a nice wide variety of tire choices on the 18x10et25 square setup i am planning, but i don't seem to have as much choice in this tire size (275/35/18) with the mid-level tires (nt01, ad08r namely that seems like everyone loves).

i recall people stating the re-11 did well with heat which seems like a major weakspot of the MPSS.

i may try the re71r as the price is reasonable but a slight shame there hasn't been any feedback yet and maybe i'll go with something more tested like the RS3.

anyone out there try the re71r lately?
