maybe it's the need to remove your ECU and send it in that's dampened the interest, but ZERO installs? c'mon guys!

I called Gintani yesterday and they reported there have been a good amount of installs. Just most of the customers are not really forum people, hence the scarcity of the reviews.

However, I am stopping by on Friday to check out the shop and ask about the tuning stuff. So far the the tuner seems really knowledgeable and had a good answer for all the technical details I asked about.

Yea I'm looking forward to this. Read somewhere that it eliminates farting in exchange for burbles. That alone would sell me on it.

The "farting" only happens at high rev shifts, which sounds pretty bad ass in person.

It also happens if you go WOT just to when boost builds and let off.

Ask them why the graph they posted looks exactly the same as the before only shifted upwards

Sfifty5 -- Is it supposed to look different? Every turbo car I have owned has an upward shift in the powerband after a tune, and Gintani's graph is no different.

My GT-R (pic for example) still has the same minor dips in the power band in parallel to the "before" numbers.

Waiting to see more graphs from all tuners offering ecu flashing, actually independent graphs. Personal opinion but I think it's early in the game for ecu flashes on the F series. Looking forward to what the future holds after long term testing/use.

You wanted me to ask them a question, so what specifically did you want to know? What about their graph is weird to you compared to any other boosted vehicle after a tune (no piggy back)?

Curios as to who the Tuner behind this file is........

I don't suppose Alex is doing the tuning himself

After swinging by the dyno for an all stock run, 392whp,402wtq, I dropped off my car at a local shop so they could send out my computer for the reflash. I hope Gintani will have it by Monday morning. I'm installing their dp's and BMC filters along with the tune. I was going for the 93 octane tune but they made mention that they could do E85 as well. Any thoughts on the E85? I know some have voiced concerns about the hpfp. There is a station that's not to far away that sells E85 and it'd be worth the extra power to me if it wasn't damaging.

I don't think its damaging to the HPFP, its more that it cannot flow enough fuel on E85 without running too lean. However, with an ECU flash, you can control boost, timing and AFR so it may be possible to run full E85 on these cars.

As far as I'm concerned, E85 sucks. The car wasn't designed for it. Man up and put 100 Octane in.

Full E85 is better than 100 octane. At this moment, the car is limited to 5 gallons E85 and remainder at a higher octane. They are working to use full E85 and its still in the works with testing. Hoping by bimmerfest it will be completed.

Ok, let me change my statement slightly - E85 in this car with the stock fuel system sucks. Anything over 20% has given me a lot more trouble at higher boost levels as compared to 100 Octane because the HPFP can't keep up, and even with 5 gallons of E85 mixed with 93 the Octane rating is only 97. So, until someone finds a solution to run full E85, I will continue to use 100 Octane.
