Deposit Left

Lease
MSRP 65650
Sale Price: 62950
March/April delivery.

F80 M3/6MT/Blk/Blk/Blk

$4600 down (taxes and fees)
$670/mo

I know I shouldn't put anything down. I may do half of that and roll in the rest. Not sure if I got the best deal. In NJ, there are plenty o M4s on the lots but no M3s.

I wanted to do an April ED but with the delays my deal seems to have fallen through.

How about the money factor? Dealer fees? Acquisition fee? Those are really important in a lease.

The acquisition fee (destination) is being marked up. It should be $795.

That document fee is pretty ridiculous too. Made up fee.

Agreed, that is an absurd documentation fee.

My doc fee is $133.

doc fees in NJ are high in general. My last couple cars were both around $300+ at different dealerships.

miles a year? yes, i would try to minimize the down, to maybe 1st month fees, plus a few hundred bucks... 1500-1800?

edit: actually you may want to consider this since lowering the down will increase the monthly- consider your debt to income ratio if you are buying anything else i.e. house.

No, Wah is correct - state registration fees are much higher in NJ than PA, and elsewhere.

From my order in Dec'15:
- Title Fee: $85
- State registration Fee: $311
- Electronic Temp Tag Fee: $5
- Total Fees: $401

And, yes, you need to compare "all in" fees, not just MSRP. But some government overhead (sales tax, luxury tax, reg fees) are not going anywhere, and will very between states.

I paid $3500 off Msrp for a car that wasn't even released yet, while the rest of the country was paying full sticker or more. So, no not really. In the end you look at the whole picture.

Granted i'm in PA, but all my DMV fees came to $103 and my Doc fee was $133.

I've seen some dealers attempt to charge upwards of a grand in doc fees.

But those are state mandated fees you're talking about. I'm referring to dealer "Documentation Fee" which is often times $300 or more and does not include the state fees.

My dealer typically adds a $300 doc fee which I ask to make $0 since it's just profit for them.

That is a fairly good deal.

This is correct ^

NJ also levies .4% "Luxury Tax" on the sale price of all new vehicles registered that cost over $45,000.

Doc fees in Jersey are ridiculously high and usually non-negotiable. They're not entirely made up and are charged to EVERY customer of the specific dealership, consistently. What you can do is ask the dealer to reduce the MSRP of the car by whatever the doc fee is. Merely eliminating the doc fee or reducing it leaves them open for potential lawsuits and most will not do it.

And the reason you PA and NY guys have relatively small doc fees is cause your state caps those fees at $133 and $75 respectively. NJ has no such cap so dealerships are given free reign to charge whatever they want. It sukcs to find a dealer that doesn't charge a doc fee in NJ as its all free money for them.

You got a great deal, but if I remember correctly from your thread they took $9k off MSRP and it was mainly done as a result of your trade-assist 435. This is NOT a normal situation and I highly doubt anyone will get a deal close to yours unless they have a lemon 435 that BMW wants to take off their hands. 13% off MSRP under normal circumstances is unheard of!
