New Continental ExtremeContact DWS
Hey guys new to BMW and the forum. Ditched my A5 and just picked up a M4 and I live in Maryland.
I got my new tires delivered yesterday and of course I wake up this AM and its snowing.. Let me tell you getting to NTB to change them was a ridiculous fail. Had to turn around and wait for the plows. Anyways got them switched after the plows today and they are awesome! Traction is great. Went on to a few hilly roads that weren't plowed yet and did just fine driving up and down and around in circles. Im sure winter tires are better but these did great for what i need, I attached some pics for you guys too. Cross fingers for no more snow. |

yeah, i think these are one of the best all season performance tires. i have them on my 650xi GC and they're great in the snow. for the M3, i have a dedicated set of wheels and winter tires.

I'm a huge advocate of the Contis DWS. My last vehicle, E70 X5 with staggered 20s, came with the OEM Duns RFTs. Those tires were pieces of crap - noisy / rides rough / poor on snow and ice / lasted 12k miles. I replaced them with Contis DWS, putting 40k miles on them before trading the car in. DWS perform solid on snow/ice/rain and it's so quiet. The tires still looked new when I traded. I had a set on my last F10 535i, it did fine in the winter with common sense.
For our Ms. DWS will work as long as the road has been plowed and good use of common sense. If you live anywhere that snows more than 5 times a year, then invest in Blizzak as you have to change out tires for warmer seasons anyways. |

Thanks for posting the review and pics. I was thinking about the Contis too. Tell us how they perform in cold dry conditions. That's typically my weather.

I give an update in about two weeks, when Ive had them a full month. So far tho, love them, mainly the fact that they done slip much in rain and are quiet. I would have to agree with JNoSol tho, common sense is a must in all weather situations.

Cons: The side walls are thinner than OEM tires, so expect a bit of flex during hard cornering. Fortunately, we have very low profile side walls so there shouldn't be too much flex. If you get more than 4in of snow often, it's best to consider Blizzak. This quick video explains why Contis DWS does so well on the snow. Appreciate the update. Sounds like the Contis DWS are the 4 seasons choice.

great tires! These are lighter the the Michelin A/s 3 as well.
Only downside I feel is when you leave them overnight in the cold, the tires wobble when you start driving
