Production Update

I called BMW Customer Service this afternoon to check on my production status, since the automated system never seems to update.

I was told my car is now confirmed for production on 02/07/15 with a 6-10 week window from production to delivery.

Just thought I would let everyone know. I ordered the car on 11/18/14

James.

Thanks for the update. Sucks but all I can say is it'll be worth the wait...stay strong.

Hang in there buddy. I put my deposit in Dec 2013, spec out the car in Apr 2014, production of the car was July 9, 2014, and car in hand Sept 4, 2014.

It is a pain, but after delivery, you will know why every minute of the wait was worth it.

Well worth the wait. In a way I'm sad the whole process is behind me. Waiting was part of the fun, even if I didn't realize it at the time.

Thanks for the perspectives. It is definitely an "interesting" time, filled with much anticipation.

Would you say this is a "normal" timeframe? I have heard things about delays due to the CF roof and the 19" wheels. Part of my reason for posting (which I forgot to articulate) was to see how this is comparing to others with orders placed around the same time.

Lol. Placed order in July and the car is just now arriving in U.S. Everyone has to wait man, some people get lucky, most don't.

Yeah, I'm one of the lucky ones. My dealer had an allocation for the car so the whole process from ordering to delivery took about a month and a half. Hang in there OP. Good things come to those who wait...

I placed my order 10/11 and my car was finally suppose to go into production week 49 and was moved to week 6 next year. I called today to see if any changes for the production date but still the same week 6. My order is a stripper m3 with the carbon fiber roof.

Man.....those are some serious delays, I feel for you guys. I'm looking at April/May to place an order. If these delays keep up I might as well wait for the 2016. Hope they get this solved quick. BMW should put out an official press notice or something to keep their customers informed.

I waited about 4 months to finally get the production started so I know how you feel. But after that things got going pretty quick. This is probably normal for special orders.

Heres my story:

Ordered car Oct 4th, got production # few weeks later. Car went into production early November, shipped early December and was scheduled to arrive last week.

Called my dealer and apparently thats not my production #; not the car I've been tracking this whole time.
No, my production # was apparently switched with someone else by BMW because there is a delay with full leather. They switched the # sometime in late October when the new production # was created and didn't tell anyone.

My October 4th order is now scheduled to be built early January with a late January delivery they claim, but I know thats likely to be early to mid February more likely.

So yeh, a ton of excitement a week before Christmas was wiped out by this awful, awful news.

I placed an order for a M3 Oct. 15th. Production was completed on Nov. 17th. The car arrives at Port Hueneme in California on Dec. 21st.

I think your production delays may be more likely because of your dealership not having a current allocation when they placed your order. The system will accept your order but wont give it a production date until the dealer has an available allocation. That being said, you may be able to find a dealer that actually has an allocation and get your car into production faster.

My dealer had an allocation. I was given my production number on the same day I ordered the car at the dealer, i.e. 11/18.

Wrong, I was status 112 a day after. There's crazy delays with the M3/M4s you missed it by a month....lucky

No delay on full SO leather, I've gone from Nov 10 order to built last week. Do have sunroof though so I think I jumped forward on that? Who knows how it works, luck plays its part!

I put my name on the list at my dealer back in Sep 13 the day after they showed the car for the first time. I put my '04 M3 up for sale a week later and it was gone in less than 24 hrs. Completed the order process on 10 Feb 14 and at first had a build date in June. Went through 4 different delays and finally opted for ED in order to force a build date on BMW. Picked up my car on 23 Sep and drop it off on the 29th. Took delivery back in OH on 5 Nov. Talk about a LONG WAIT!!! I loved my '04 M3, but I have to say that the new car is just a BEAST! Well worth the wait!
