This. Everything with aprox. 2% more or less tire diameter would cause problems with DTC and ABS. I would go with 4x18" or 4x19" depending on the condition of the roads where you drive.

the E39 M5 used to come with an option that had 19's on rear and 18's on front. That looked just fine and i'm sure handled perfectly well.

As long as your total radius of wheels with tyres are the same, I can't imagine there would be any real difference in the way the car drove, as you're not altering the size of the rear rolling radius.

Get 19s all around with wider tires in back- that would be a staggered setup as I see it.

It would actually work with a 245/35/18 and 285/30/19 the sidewall heights are the same front and back and the tire sizes are close enough that you would have no problems. Personally I think your better off with the same size front and back but it can be done.
