ya I'm looking forward to that...though it's supposed to be a dual core if I remember right (or rather dual snap dragon), the battery life can't be great?

and ya iphone batteries aren't bad, no different than the rest of the batteries out there ATM, but it's only slated at ~750 mhz. A dual core setup, etc will blow the iphone outta the water for processing speed...but you might be looking at a 12 hour battery life. |

What are you doing on a phone that needs that much processing speed? There has to be a point where the battery life is priority over processing speed. And any additional processing speed is just a waste. 12 hrs def won't cut it. |

But it's why I think the Iphone was revolutionary...it made the switch between battery life and cpu power. Before the iphone the battery life aspect was huge, now it's almost entirely gone...as long as it lasts one day. |

I have a Droid Incredible and went into the verizon store this past weekend to check out the X since I am still within my 30-day trial period with the Incredible and wanted to see if it was worth making the switch. Honestly, I was not that impressed by the X.
First of all, the size is just too monsterous and the look is rather bland compared to the Incredible. But I could have gotten past that except that I didn't really like the UI either. I'm new to the android world having come from a blackberry storm, so when people debated UI of HTC vs Motorola, I didn't really know what they were talking about until I actually played with both phones. Maybe I am biased because I am now accustomed to the HTC layout, but IMO things like the transitions between screens as you swipe across, the look of the icons and the backgrounds just look better on the Incredible. The X does have a leg up however in the ability to fully customize the size of all widgets. The browser functionality is better on the Incredible because the text auto-justifies to the screen when you zoom in, which the X does not do. And oddly enough, despite being a larger screen and keyboard, I had a lot more typos when using the X than the Incredible. However, the X does have swype pre-loaded so I probably would not really be using the regular keyboard anyway if I had it. And this was probably just a problem with the store model, but the X that I was playing with seemed to have a lot of little lags when switching applications. I think where the X really shines will be in battery performance, as the initial reviews indicate that the X has a much better battery life than the Incredible. So at the end of the day, I am going to stick with my Incredible. The X would have had to blow me completely away for me to want to switch anyway...

Got my X yesterday (coming from a Droid 1) and man, that thing is awesome. It is so fast and the screen really is unbelievable. The battery life so far has been about the same as the Droid - but I have really been using it heavily. I like the form factor, really like the size of the keys on the keyboard and REALLY like the fact that it can be used as a wireless 3g hotspot. But it is pretty large. It's weird using something that is so much larger than every phone I've ever had.
One thing that I'm not a big fan of are the tactile buttons at the bottom. I would much rather have virtual buttons (or even dedicated buttons but without the tactile feedback like the Droid has). coh4777 - you mentioned the UI; I agree, it was a bit clunky - but I changed it almost immediately to LauncherPro. It's way faster, better looking and more customizable than that stock UI. Best of all, the X works perfectly with iDrive - everything syncs flawlessly. If I had the HTC Incredible with the AMOLED screen, I doubt I would upgrade. But coming from the Droid (and before that the iPhone 3g) it is a big improvement. |

It's a great phone. I'm glad I skipped on the iPhone 4G and switched to Verizon.
