Hi all
I got my question answered from BMW - I paste their response here. Dear Customer, Vehicles that comes with an active CarPlay from factory have code 6CP embedded. Vehicles that are eligible to purchase CarPlay after factory must have 609 (Professional navigation), 6AK (ConnectedDrive services) and one option code below: 6NS, 6NW, 6NP, 6U9 or 6FR. Your vehicle has 609, 6AK codes. However, none of the other options required. Sincerely, BMW NA ConnectedDrive Services Customer Care Fax: 888-226-9492 PO Box 100035 Fort Lauderdale, FL 33310 |

Hey Junior...thanks for the info.
Still not having any luck with BMW Assist...seems like they don't really know much about Carplay integration or they just don't care to figure out how to make it work. My wife just bought a new 2018 X1 with same specs as yours, no wireless charging and she doesn't see Carplay on ConnectedDrive. Did you say it just popped up as an option one day or did Assist guys have to do something? Frustrating to know that it's not that easy to add Carplay to a 2018 BMW...makes no sense to me. Anyone know what is actually done with the 6CP code? Is it just flipping a software switch to enable carplay? Thanks for your help! D |

I am in the same situation. While I cannot confirm, I have a feeling that CarPlay popping up in the connecteddrive store was in error considering the requirements BMW Assist has told many of us is necessary for CarPlay. BMW fixed the error which is dumb considering all the extra revenue they could get from all of us wanting CarPlay. On the plus side, when I had a loaner with CarPlay, the Waze integration wasn't as smooth as I hoped thus making me less miffed at not being able to shell out 300 bucks. |

Been reading this thread since I miss having CarPlay. Got the wife an 2018 X1 and by looking at the list of options, I don't have the capability to add CarPlay from the BMW store (doesn't come up on the app store either). Is there a way to add it via aftermarket add on?

Did you even read the topic above? Turns out your question is extremely complex one and you must have the rare combination of 32402 options in your car to be able to use this technological marvel called CarPlay.

Hi,
I have X1 F48 september 2017 with no navigation (6.5" screen, ID6). Is it possible to: 1) Activate carplay on this HU? 2) Upgrade this basic media2 HU to navigation HU (with\or activate carplay), that is installed on 2019 X1 - I mean 8.8" touch screen and non-touch iDrive controller (for navigation). As I understand correctly - it is S06UN option. 3) Don't want to install NBT EVO, due to don't want to install HUD with new windshield and extended instrument cluster. Are this partnumbers correct and enouth? HU 65128734827 Display 65508707407 iDrive Controller 65829490067 |
