I got to say BMW did a great job with the XLine, I do like the satin detailing and side skirts, but what made me decide to go with MSport (apart from the steering wheel) was the huge expanse of unpainted black rear bumper on the XLine that really stands out on a white car (reminded me of my old VW Golf V).
There are those who dislike the MSport bumper insert too, but it's more or less the same theme as on other 2015/16 M Sport cars, including the new 7 Series - so it's not unique to the X1. I am surprised how different the XLine and MSport cars look by just having the black trim painted all around. I think we somehow associate black bumpers and wheel arch claddings with off-road ruggedness and the "SUV-look". |

I was told by one of my local dealers here in Vancouver, Canada, that MSports go into production in December and will be delivered late-February or early March 2016... Probably similar timeframe as for USA?

On these shores, I imagine we'll see the first M Sports on the east coast by the end of this month, maybe a couple weeks later for the west coast. Not sure if that'll hold true for Canada too, but don't see why not?

Just like ours will be like. I do admit the rear bumper isn't that flattering, but the front and the wheels are cool.

Isn't it funny how styling is so subjective - I happen to like the rear but the front seems a little plain and not as aggressive as could be - I'm already thinking what I might add, maybe a carbon front splitter if becomes available.

Agreed - looks are subjective. The X1 M-sport rear is not like the other M-sport designs on the other BMW models. I'm not a fan of the new X1 in lighter colors because it looks like a tall station wagon. The darker colors make the X1 look very aggressive in M-sport trim.

i need to see it in real life, cause so far M sport just makes the X1 look like a raised wagon

Black or darker color for the new X1 is the way to go.
Did you see the white in the video, it looks like a tall wagon in white. With the lighter color, the rear M-sport bumpers makes the "paddles" more pronounced |

I think you are right darker colors are the way to go. Need to see if I can convince Mrs W of that...

I think with the M Sport it's 'missing' something on the sides, looks quite blank with the large doors. Will need to do something about that on my white car - maybe M Performance-style side skirts with black accent or some black wrap. Also these smaller 18" alloys don't help the looks, the 19" look better to fill the wheel arches.
