Extended warranty - Best place to buy? Dealer is astronomical.
Best online dealer to buy an extended warranty from? My dealer was astronomical and wanted to see if there is a common agreement (yea right lol) of a fair and reputable one to talk to?

According to one of the sponsor CAs on Bimmerf... BMWNA has recently imposed a new requirement that the car must be physically present at the dealership for them to sell an extended warranty on it. This change was a specific response to dealer complaints about other dealers selling online at deep discounts.

Geico mechanical breakdown is the best I could find.
50 bucks a year and with a 250 deductible I can get anything that broke fixed at the dealer up to 100k miles. Used it plenty on previous cars. |

Geico MBI is very good, just be advised that the MBI is automatically included in all policies so you ust request to have it removed. If you are leasing or plan to get rid of your car before the 4 year / 50,000 warranty, the MBI has no value.

Geico's MBI is great. The only thing is that you have to get before the car hits 15k miles.

Just beware of the extended warranty, especially if you buy it on day 1 of the purchase.
I was given the impression that the "extended warranty" is an extension for 2 years and an additional 100,000 miles. Per the company that actually manages the warranty for BMW - assurant - it is not that. You are actually purchasing an extended warranty that is 6 years and 100,000 miles, essentially in place of the existing warranty. This means that when you cancel it to turn your vehicle in, you will receive proration on the years or miles, whichever is greater. So for instance, I cancelled mine at 3.5 years and 52,000 miles. What I thought was under the years (since it was under 4 years of the regular warranty), and 2000 miles over and expected a proration of no more than 6% deduction. In fact, I had over a 50% deduction because I had the vehicle for 3.5 years of the 6 year warranty. So buyer beware, just make sure to confirm the terms. |
