Ugly dome light covers

Anyone else think that the dome light cover is a cheap looking opaque piece of plastic? It used to be this clear, diamond patterned cover in e46. It looks out of place compared to the rest of the interior. Wonder if there are any aftermarket replacements that's clear.

You are not alone. I wish someone would make a clear plastic for them. Audi have the same ugly white plastic but at least they have aftermarket options.

This. But I've only had my car two months.

I took a glance up at it after just driving my car and couldn't figure out what OP is talking about. Then I carried on with my life.

You guys must not have the diamond glass package. Mine is platinum trimmed diamonds. It's awesome. Very expensive looking.

Really...dome light covers? Someone either has too much time and too little brains or they're pulling our leg here...

It looks like people with less/no attention to detail are posting nonsense...

Anyways the X3 and 5 series do get nice dome lights. The f30 got the short end of the stick.

^ Agree.

The E90's was simple but still esthetically nice looking.

The F30's looks more like the light covers that are in refrigerators.

Best $9500 I've ever spent on the F30.

Honestly I've never even noticed. But looking at the pictures above...and if the last one is our f30's, I see the point. It does look cheesier. Where can I get the diamond encrusted platinum ones and do they have rep versions on ebay?

I've never seen anything else as this is my first BMW, so I'm not bothered about it

I agree the plastic looks better on the older models but I do like how the newer models have multi stage lighting.

What I mean is how the lights come on halfway when you turn off engine and when you open the door only the appropriate light for that passenger goes full bright. Once you close the door it goes back to the dimmer setting.

If there is an aftermarket solution for this, how will it effect my warranty? I will have to email my SA about this one. Perhaps I'll wait for Dinan or BMW M Performance to release a high performance dome-light cover.

False. I pay plenty attention to detail...

Fortunately, I'm too busy enjoying my car and/or looking ahead to notice the light cover.

This.

I'm literally about to leave work as soon I post this. If I don't forget to look at the dome light cover between now and the 5 minutes it takes for me to get down the elevator and have the valet bring my car, I'll report back.

I hid my emergency cash in my E46's moonroof cover before so I look up there a lot. Check out the bling! Someone should offer a F30 replacement to sooth my overly-sensitive demand for diamond cut optic reflectors.
