I want to put a hitch on my 328d so I can use my existing bike rack. Curt Mfg has model 11367 for the 328i, but tech support says they don't know if it fits the 328d because they don't have a dealer nearby where they can actually put one on and test it.

BMW has an outrageously priced hitch that, guess what, bolts to the frame (behind the bumper) just like the Curt hitch, except that it has a funky proprietary attachment for the rack. The whole deal also costs twice what a Curt would.

Does any one have any knowledge as to whether the Curt hitch for the 328i will work on the 328d? The urea tank is on the right side of the 328d near the frame bolts but it looks like it should fit to me.
