Exterior light bulb failure
hi,
I got the exterior light bulb failure indicator on my dash today.. at first it popped up.. I didnt know what the hell it was.. but I assumed thats what it was and checked the manual etc.. my car is a 2009, with only 38,000kms. anyways when I got home.. I checked all the lights, turned all the switches, signals, even checked the reverse lights, and all seemed to be working..? this is my first bimmer, so not sure which bulb it could be, unless im missing something..? also, I have my light switch turned to automatic day/night.. but I noticed the little green light there next to switch, that I think was always lit.. is now off..? so just a little confused.. unless its an electrical glitch.. let me know what you think.. Note: incase its of any importance, I did have a set of KwV1 installed 2 weeks ago. I did read after beeing lowered it can mess with the lights. |

Have you looked at the Check Control CC-ID number?
Here's a link to a wonderful PDF posted on this site that has the info for the codes. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=611567 I attached a pdf that should help you find the codes. You use two different buttons/switches on your turn signal. Hopefully once you narrow down what the code is that will help you find the problem. The check control info should come up either in the speedeter area and/or your nav display. Last edited by snowymountains; 05-27-2014 at 09:17 PM.. |

alright awsome..
did not know you can hold the button for the code to come up.. initially.. jus the bulb icon came up.. didnt know the hold the button.. so the code that came up = CC ID 136.. according to the list.. that is left rear break light.. but I checked it.. and it was not burnt.. I guess ill have to check again.. is it a possibility that there could be an electrical glitch.. of some kind..? |

well I think I just figured out why.. the left rear still looks like its working..
I read in another post.. there are actually 2 bulbs per rear light.. thats why its difficult to see.. because even if one bulb is out.. there other is still working.. and makes it appear.. the rear light is fine.. however others have reported faulty connection.. where the bulb is still good.. but remove clean it up and screw back..etc.. so thats pretty much it.. |

so end result.. is one of the rear brake light bulbs was indeed burnt..
because there are two bults in the rear cluster.. it was very difficult to notice one was burnt. put in new bulb.. and the code is gone.. |
