Finally pulled the trigger (on an e91)
while it is autotragic, i got it for an extremely good price (like, below trade in value, the dealer was desperate to get rid of it since NOBODY wanted it) and it was babied its entire life if the carfax maintenance is to be believed, although i did confirm with the last shop it was serviced at that it was very regularly serviced
basically, the KBB value for a 2008 328xi wagon with 82,000 miles is about $19000, i got this guy for $12000. i could literally trade it in tomorrow at a profit but i wont its incredibly dirty (cant wash with all this rain) it doesnt have the sport package and its got a few minor or possibly not minor problems.... but dammit if i don't love the little thing already. some questions for the e90post regulars though 1) any suggestions on where to go to request some photoshopping? i'm wondering what it'll look like with very deep dark bronze wheels (either painted OEMs, or aftermarket) 2) any suggestions on how to find part-outs in the new england area? gotta find some tan sport seats and a 2009+ heated sport wheel+airbag, the regular seats arent comfortable and the stock wheel just doesnt look good 3) its got some issues, would it be a faux pas to just ask the maintenance forum their thoughts based on the symptoms? it has zero codes so that's good but i digress, pictures! Looks real clean on the inside anyway... needs floormats, go WeatherTech.
What model year? Guessing '09, since you mentioned the seats... How many miles? You'll need to check the paint condition once you have a chance to wash/wax it, probably clay bar it, check service intervals (especially oil, brake fluid) and maybe take to BMW dealership to have general inspection... although be very cautious of BMW dealerships (or any dealership for that matter), they often have questionable abilities. DIY everything you possibly can. On the seats... any e90,e91 or e92 seats pre-lci should work. I'm not sure if e93 seats would work, if I recall, they are different... someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong. Do a search on Tasman Green.

Congrats! As for photoshop, you can post a photoshop request in the photo section. Just ask nicely and include pics of your car and the wheels you wanna see on them.

I think you are right... it looks to dark to be Tasman anyway.
Go to http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html type in last 7 of VIN.

Also, if you go to tirerack.com, it will show you the wheels you select on your car when you specify the make/model/color. You might not want to buy from there, but you might find a very similar wheel to the one you want... I do buy from there, have had nothing but top notch service and products.

Congratulations! The E91 is less common then the E93 'vert and infinitely more practical. I'm kinda surprised that the dealer couldn't sell it.
I'd suggest WeatherTech or Cocomats over the BMW mats. Besides the cosmetic problems, what issues does your car have? The knowledge base here almost certainly includes your car's problems -- and many, many other problems!

but yeah, the color is TIEFGRUEN METALLIC (A43) Quote:
1) "worlbing" sound out of the right rear wheel well at speeds above 30mph. its not a constant hum, it has a specific frequency (at 30mph it's like 5 times a second), and it gets faster the faster you go. It might just be the tires and i'll try swapping the rear right and left tires at some point soon to test that 2) the engine shakes the car notably at idle, and its sort of an irregular shaking instead of a constant rumble. i SUSPECT its the motor mounts because if you rev it beyond 2k rpm while parked, it goes away 3) the sunroof is unusually noisy at speed. with the shade closed its fine but with the shade open there's a good amount of road noise. it's probably using the old seal design which isnt very good, or it might be very slightly open an need a reset. i'll have to see how to check if it has the new or old seal design |

And weirdly enough, considering how RARE Tasman Green is, I rolled up to the York Tolls in Maine today right beside a TG e90. First Tasman Green 3-series I have seen since I bought mine. She had the beige interior though.

I have the same experience with my sunroof; very loud with just the shade open. I only use the roof now when I can open the whole thing. If you get it sorted let me know!

hmm, looks like some cosmetic issues.
-hole in the tail light, which is actually a good thing! i've been seriously considering getting some smoked depo aftermarket tail lights from bimmian and this is an excellent excuse. i might put some red vinyl over it in the mean time to prevent corrosion -small split in the front bumper. sort of a bummer but a larger stainless steel washer through the skidpan should hold both pieces in place. also some clear bra applied there -dent in the lower bumper on the passenger side, i think the old hot water trick will work here

Congrats on the new ride. I've always been a huge fan of station wagons and the E91 in particular. Love the one you've picked and it seems like a great price too.
I don't have too much knowledge when it comes to mechanical issues, but doesn't your wheel problem sound like a bearing issue? Anyways enjoy the new acquisition. |
