Does this look like a bad battery to you?

Hi guys, I've been trying to diagnose a slow start/long crank issue thats been affecting my car recently. My first thought was that it was the starter motor but since I checked the voltage of the battery it seems like that might be it. I took this video after the car sat for less than three hours. I got into the secret BC menu to look at the battery voltage when the car was off. As you can see, it sits around 11.6 volts. When the car sits overnight, it can get as low as 11.2 volts. I roll down the windows and open the sunroof to put some load on the battery and you can see the voltage drops to 11.4-11.6. When I press the start button, it sounds like it struggles a little because the voltage drops to 9.5v, then idles like normal. Sometimes the car cranks for a while before it turns over. I think the alternator's fine because the voltage creeps up to 14.4-14.5 at the end of the video. See what you think. Last edited by kenbrinkman; 05-20-2014 at 04:51 PM.. |
