Oil Cooler on 330i
Ok I have heard stories that on the 2006 330i there is not an oil cooler.
Why on earth do I have one located at the bottom next to the electric fan on the drivers side? Does anyone else have one on their 2006 330 if not can I remove mine and by pass it? Please help I think this is where my oil leak is coming from, as much as the oil filter housing gasket. Thanks |

You are referring to the transmission oil heat exchanger.
If you want to remove it you'll have to by pass both the transmission oil circuit and coolant circuit. More hassle than what it worth. If you believe that this is where your oil leak is originating from, you can wash it off and monitor it to confirm. What colour is the oil? |

Thx for the quick reply x_drive and the oil is black and it is leaking so bad that the drive belt will not stay on, I am going to replace the Oil filter housing gasket this week but I am not sure that this is the only problem. thanks for telling me that that is the transmission oil heat exchanger, I thought some idiot added and oil cooler down there. |
