325i E90 N52 NA Vs. 335xi N54 TT
I've owned a 2006 325i N52 black on black (no upgrade packages) for about 7 years. On an impulse, I purchased a 2008 335xi N54 Black on Black with nearly every package and option you can get. Premium, Sport, Cold Weather, Comfort... you get the idea.
The 325i is smooth as silk. The ride, idle, the accelleration, everything. The 335xi provides a rougher ride. In idle-a bit bumpy, rougher and certainly noisier. Even in accelleration. Bear with me though, as I'm splitting hairs here. The 325i was a dog in power. Pretty slow. But still satisfying on the highway if you're not trying to pass quickly. The 335xi however is quick. It loves the higher powerband. Nothing like a V8 mustang or anything like that though. It likes to go fast-it just lacks rip your pants off raw-power. The all-wheel will probably be great in the snow, but I think it detracts from the driving expeirence. I feel that being pushed forward by the rear wheels and letting the front steer provides a superior ride. And turning off DTC is pretty fun in the 325i. The stereo has no comparison. The 335xi has a smooth EQ curve and a thumping low-end. The 325i was raw and punchy, but no finesse whatsoever. The real leather is so much nicer. Obviously. The sport seats fit my body perfectly. 6'0" 170lbs. However, there is something REALLY comfortable about the non-sport seats in my 325i. And the manual seats in the 325i are super quick and easy to adjust. I haven't gotten the power seats in my 335xi to be quite right yet. They feel higher somehow. So I would say as far as ride quality goes, the 325i takes it. But for shear speed and options, the 335xi wins. Last edited by Omni; 05-18-2014 at 05:30 PM.. |
