Hi guys I have an e93 2007 320i m sport which I beleive is the 170bhp version any one know what engine this is?

It's an N46B20. Google/Wikipedia to the rescue.

Edit: If you have a diesel, then it's an N47 (and is actually rated at 175hp).

N52 is an I6 engine. Markets outside of the US/Canada had I4 engines offered as well (for the x16, x18 and x20 cars)
