Advise needed- DHP?

hey guys.. I probably have 1 day left to make changes to the 435i M-sport that I have on order.. I have searched all the threads and most say the DHP package is worth the cost, but most are older threads.. Is this still the consensus? I called my dealer and had it added, but if it's going to compromise performance in any way, then I definitely don't want it. So, what's the T?

I have a 335 MSport and the stock suspension was horrible in terms of roll and float. I ultimately added the MPS (M Performance Suspension) and I love it. That being said, I just drove a 428 MSport loaner for a week. It's suspension was pretty good - not as much roll/float, but still there. It was much better than my stock suspension, but not as nice as my MPS.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks for the reply, is the MPS the same as DHP?

I test drove all. Standard, sport line, m sport and DHP.

Hands down DHP wins for me. It was a must option for me.

I'm so glad I got it. In comfort I can have the same handling as an msport but without the harshness and then if I want to turn it up a notch I can.

I definitely considered DHP a must for me as well. When I was researching for my car, I had read that the stock suspension was softer than before as was the steering. DHP adds adaptive shocks as well as variable steering. Definitely worth it IMO.

Yes, DHP is definitely worth it - really enjoying being able to switch modes - plus, if you start driving aggressively in comfort mode, the DHP suspension will "adapt".

It's not and it removes DHP. I haven't driven a car with DHP. I was trying to provide a view on the stock sport suspension in the 4 series. It's not bad, but I'm sure DHP will be better.

I thought I was the only one who had noticed this. The steering and suspension will adopt to the sport settings at speed. It won't go all the way as in pure sport+ but it definitely inches closer to it. Thanks for confirming this for me

I have DHP on a F30, F31, and F22... it's the way to go.

Test drove models without and the car felt good but DHP takes it to the next level for comfort and adjustability. If your a car guy - get it.

DHP is the way to go....until you need to replace them from wear and tear. Then you may start cursing yourself when you find out that replacing them is the same or more expensive as a set of good coilovers.

Would NOT have bought the car without DHP.

Adjustable suspension alone is worth it. May cost more to replace down the road after the warranty expires, but I don't plan to keep the car after that date.

On my RWD 335i MSport DHP is by far the best option I selected. I'll never order another BMW without this option. Our previous and other current BMWs don't have it and now I know what I had been missing!

BMW without DHP is for posers. A BMW with DHP is the real deal. It is a must have. At 120 mph the car will wallow in comfort mode. You can definitely feel the difference in Sprot mode. The wallowing all but disappears in the triple digits.

A thousand times yes.

I've driving both. Non DHP and the car started shaking and becoming hard to control around 110mph. With DHP still excellent control at 145, and I haven't had the opportunity to test higher than that.

only get the DHP if you plan on leaving the suspension stock, then its the best way to go

If you are ordering M Sport line, the M Sport already has the Adaptive M Suspension as part of that pkg. Strictly speaking, the Adaptive M Suspension should be called the Adaptive Shock Absorber option (stiffens shocks Comfort-Sport-Sport+), because that's all it does - stiffens the shocks. When you opt for the DHP (Dynamic Handling Pkg) on a M Sport car, all you are getting extra is the variable steering.

If you want something really extra, order the M Performance Suspension (MPS) - https://www.getbmwparts.com/partloca...75&startrow=26. Maybe different shocks, definitely different (shorter) springs, and stiffer sway bars, and a drop of about half an inch from the M Sport Suspension, or almost an inch lower than stock. The slammed look! Most dealers will add a couple of coffee cans on the exhaust as a no cost option.

You can order the MPS after the car is produced, but before it hits the port/VPC. The VPC is where all the M Performance parts are added. Check with your CA for cost - I think there's been a price increase on some of the M Perfomance parts. Generally it's cheaper to get M Performance parts installed at the VPC (much cheaper labor costs and they know what they're doing) as opposed to the dealer.

This is incorrect. The MSport option (and Sport Line) give you the fixed 704 sport suspension. Only with DHP do you get the adaptive shocks. These give you adjustable shocks and these also adapt to road conditions. The VSS is std with DHP.

I was wondering if this was correct also. BMW doesn't help because look at my build and tell me if I have adaptive m suspension or not???

agree. the standard suspension w/ M Sport is NOT adaptive; it's just M sport.

otherwise, they'd be charging $1000 for just VSS and they'd have to charge less.

as an analogy, with drivers asst plus you do NOT get blind spot assist on M Sport line cars and they lower the price of that package by $600, I believe.

I stand corrected - I guess. So if you have M Sport option (ZMM) that includes M Sport suspension (704), what is being changed when you go from comfort to sport, etc.?
