**winter inventory update** for 335i guys.
You can sub 235/40R18 and use that size instead of 225/40R18. 235/40R18 getting low but still good choices availale in that size.
****17" runflat snow tires*** 225/45R17 Dunlop DSST : Sold out for season. Blizzak LM22Rft : In stock Indiana, due back in Delaware in about two weeks. Conti TS810S : Good stock Indiana and Delaware 205/50R17 to use with 20mm offset wheels : Pirelli 210SZ runflat Indiana : Good stock Delaware : Good stock Winter http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AH8&...nter/index.jsp ***17" Wheels that clear 335i brakes*** **11/27 update : last inexpensive wheel in stock Sport Edition A7 20mm offset. We have some Rial Como wheels due in stock early to mid December. All other styles sold out for the season or have January or later ETAs. **12/8 update Since all wheels in 17" are sold out or pre sold out for the rest of the year for 335i brake clearance we've come up with an 'okay' solution for those really needing 17" wheels. We still have some 40mm offset sport edition A7 wheels that will clear the brakes with use of an 18mm spacer kit and longer lugs. Normally I'm not a big fan of having to use spacers, but our tech guys have sourced a pretty decent setup with hubcentric spacers and matching longer bolts. The result is a good fitment, albeit with the added slight PITA of having to keep track of the extra spacers and bolts during the summer season. The other plus is that they're including the spacers and longer bolts at no additional charge. $109 per wheel includes all the needed hardware. Sport Edition : A7 32mm offset Sold for the season A7 20mm offset : We're resurrecting this fitment since we've sold out of pretty much everything else. With this offset we recommend 205/50R17 snow tires because the fitment is pretty tight with 225/45R17. Some forum guys have gotten away with running 225/45R17 on them with only occassional (hard cornering) rubbing or no rub at all. **this wheel is sold out for the season in Indiana. Sold out in Delaware not due back in stock till Spring. E1 Gone for season E2 Gone for season ASA: JH3 32mm offset Gone for season in all warehouses. JH3 20mm offset : Gone for season in all warehouses but Nevada. Rial : Salerno Sold out in all warehouses (Estimated mid January in Indiana before more arrive) Como Sold out in all warehouses , more due in stock early December but all are presold already. Kosei : K1 Racing Sold out till February wheel doesn't accept any center cap (racing wheel) Borbet Type TS Sold out all warehouses. More due in Indiana early Jan (Note this is for new orders placed. Those already in line will may have earlier ETAs from earlier shipments.) Winter http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AH8&...nter/index.jsp

Updated 12/6 nearly out of 17" wheels in any size and offset. Updates on shipments on wheels we've been waiting on, updates on 18" winter tire inventory.

Hey Gary, I checked the website and it doesnt list the Dunlop SP 3D's and Bridgestone Blizzaks anymore. I want to purchase either one of these tires for my 335i coupe. Are either one of these available right now ?

For 225/40R18 no more Blizzaks, but as of now we have 3D's.

Hey Gary, one of my buddies that work at a tireshop told me that Dunlop Wintersport M3's have the 255/35/18 size which is the same size as the rear stock tires. Is this true?

Is there any difference between 17" and 18" snow tires? Also, for a 335xi coupe, are all four tires the same? I have all season tires on there now but would like to get winters. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Rial Salerno 17
Hi Gary,
The 17s will give a better ride and are quite a bit cheaper. Will these work without spacers for the 335i Sport Sedan with 225-45-17s? http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...XL&qty_front=4 If so will the BMW caps fit? Thanks |

There have been no 255/35R18 snows available for most of this season, so most have been going to 225/40R18 or 235/40R18. Winter http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AH8&...nter/index.jsp

Gary, need some help. I am getting 18" rims for the winter. I need some snow tires. I have 225/45/18 and 245/45/18 from my old G35 coupe. Will these work? If they don't, can I still order the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D's? Is that a good winter tire for a 335xi? What tires do most E92 drivers buy? I know a 17" rim would be better but I don't like the way they look a opted for an 18". Please let me know so I can order these things before it is summer. Thanks Gary!

Those fronts have a chance of fitting, but are pretty tall and will rub under some conditions. The rears I wouldn't even try. Still not too late to get either 225/40R18 or 235/40R18 in the 3D (which is a great tire and very popular for this car) but stock is beginning to get low.

Is their an advantage of either one of these? So damn confused about tires. Guess that is why I have always called up the dealership and had them do it.

225/40R18 is a bit more narrow which means slightly better winter traction. The wider and slightly taller 235/40R18 will fill out the wheels better cosmetically.

Hey Gary,
just looked up a 17' tire and wheel package for a 08' 335i coupe w/sport package. According to the website you have the Sport Edition A7 w/32mm offset & 205/50 vr17 available. Will i need spacer with this package? & are the 225/45 vr17 a better option for the tire size. I live in NY, & there is moderate snow fall. |

Yes, spacers needed with the 40mm offset version of the wheel that is currently in stock...
Best option (if you can wait) will be 17X8 Rial Salerno, which are due back in stock hopefully the 2nd week of January. No spacers required with this wheel.

Bump, this thread is the current thread, closed other thread.
225/40R18 snows are history. Must use 235/40R18 now.
