Audi S5 barely faster than a Honda Civic Type R

from m3post.com...

The driver of all the cars is Matt Neal, BTCC champ. The track is Cadwell Park, a twisty narrow track with variable topography primarily used to test bikes.

The cars were chosen from all of the cars CAR had tested in 2007 – they had to be the most enjoyed by the reviewers and had to be on sale in 2007.

1. PORSCHE 911 GT3 RS: 53.81 £ 95,900 1375kg
2. CATERHAM 7R400: 54.28 £ 29,495 500kg
3. LAMBORGHINI SUPERLEGGERA: 54.45 £152,000 1330kg
4. AUDI R8: 55.56 £ 76,825 1560kg
5. BMW M3: 56.71 £ 50,625 1655kg
6. SUBARU IMPREZZA RB320: 57.90 £ 30,007 1495kg
7. NISSAN: 59.04 £ 29,295 1549kg
8. AUDI S5: 59.43 £ 39,795 1630kg
9. VAUXHALL VXR8: 59.54 £ 35,010 1831kg
10. HONDA CIVIC TYPER 60.85 £ 17,627 1262kg

and it got beaten by 350Z...

Remember the 335i vs S5 in the 5th Gear TV programme the 335i was only 0.06s quicker than the S5, so to dis the S5's abilities on the track is to do the same with the 335i.

So who's laughing now.

P.S.

That would have also put the Nissan 350Z ahead of it too.

Yes, in deed.

So, in conclusion... the S5 costs almost 60k and is AWD...and almost gets beaten by Honda Civic Type R and then loses to 335 that doesn't even have an LSD and costs 10k less and has 35 hp less.

Wow...S5 is a great performance package

Yeah you're right, but then the S5 is about more than just it's performance, it's the looks, the interior, the quality of the controls, the ease of how it is too drive quickly. It's the whole package which makes the S5 worth the difference.

Unless you can get your head around that then you will never understand why Audi make their S cars.

Hi, I drive an Audi S5. They have complimentary SPA packages while you own the S5 with the full Aloe treatment.

It weights 100 more pounds than the 335i, and it has AWD

It's kind of child-est to think that the S5 is less or more of a car than the 335i, it's just different. Like some has already said the 335i is the more enjoyable as a driver's car but it's ultimately it's slower on the road, the S5 is like all Audis very efficient at what they do but not as involving and in saying this I don't means it bad because it's not that far behind the 335i in all of this.

BMW concern themselves more with the actual driving experience when going at it full tilt and I love them for that while Audi concern themselves more with providing a more balance package for more of the time.

Is the S5 worth the extra dosh?, in my opinion it is but I wouldn't blame anyone for picking the 335i instead.

Im sure is a great car otherwise, but performance wise...its got nothing.

Stock vs stock the 335d is slightly quicker than the 335i from 60mph to 100mph and the diesel gets even quicker above this speed.

So my point is that the S5 is slightly quicker than the 335i, to use the Civic everytime makes a mockery of the value of the 335i also, in both cases the two cars are over priced only the S5 is more so. I think the problem lays in the huge price difference you guys has in the US, over here the difference is only £3K when the two cars are specced the same. Easily worth the small difference in my opinion.

I don't want to press the point but the S5 is for girls and metrosexuals.
