Carbon Fibre Rims

I have been into motorbikes for years, and there is a south african Co who produces CF rims for bikes which are extremely light weight. I have installed light weight rims on my car and bike in the past and was amazed at the difference in steering feel, and braking.

I have always wondered why they hadn't developed a CF wheel for a car, and it now seems koenigsegg has done it!

I'm certain that in future this technology will be developed so that BBS etc will be supplying CF rims

It blows me away, by memory he stated the 19 x 10" cf rim is 5.9 KG!

EXPENSIVE!!!!! Forged aluminum for a street car will be more durable and cheaper to replace.

I would think that you need a bit of a weight down there to make the car stable. Just like how verts are heavier than hard top. I'm no expert so I could be wrong. Just something to think about.

Anyone sell carbon fiber wheels for our car? They are apparently very strong and of course, light. 12 pounds as opposed to 20? I'm up for that.

The Koenigsegg One comes with Carbon Fiber Wheels. Dymag (more of a bike wheel company) used to make some CF and magnesium wheels for the NSX (http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showth...A-S-Motorsport). I would be super interested in a set myself (i own a NSX and would love one in NSX Spec).

They should be strong and light as a feather, but probably not good at all on any sort of impact. Good Luck and let us know!

i remember that it was like $2K for two wheels on a bike? can't imagine how much it would cost for four wheels on a car.

Carbon fiber wheels for car definitely isnt that popular. Googled this tho:

http://www.speedforsale.com/nissangt...els-p-942.html

for that price, i'll stick to aluminum thank you xD But will be an absolute luxury to have those on any car. Damn...

The last time I saw a price on a set of CF Wheels, they were ranging from 10-14K for all four wheels, I forgot where I saw it but this was when they were just getting started.
