COBB accessport v3

Does anyone know if the Cobb Accessport v3 will work on the M235i? Seems super easy to flash tune using this. Also anyone used this product before? Thoughts?

They still don't have August 2012+ support. Product is great, but just a bit behind in getting their BMW support up to date at the moment.

Thanks, maybe some E-mails to them from members on here and they'll get working on a fix for that.

I wish they had current support. I've used Accessports on my STIs for the past 10 years and they're tough to beat for ease of use.

Unfortunately, we currently do not have any plans to expand our current BMW Accessport support to include the 1/2 series vehicles. It's certainly something we may revisit in the future but for now, we just don't have the resources available to devote to it. Sorry I didn't have better news for you but if you have any additional questions, just let me know!

I've received a similar reply from Cobb. I'm sure when they do decide to focus on the 1/2/3/4/5 series August 2012+ N55's they will be a great product. Until then, other tunes will have to do

From what I can tell they're doing alot for the Ford Focus ST, Subaru WRX STi and Nissan GTR.

Their Focus ST Cobb variant even has some features we never saw on a BMW. No lift shift, integration into the dash of what map you're on and steering wheel controls for on the fly map switch. Jealous.

EDIT - If you guys want we can put together a thread of potential interested N55 customers (August 2012+) between the 1/2/3/4/5 series forums. Might we worth a shot in attempting to bring it onto their 'sooner' rather than 'later' radar development scope.

I think the issue is more of them being able to crack the ECU, since their product is not a piggyback.

That's exactly the reason why there is no support. ECU changed after August 2012 production month to a new unit with different encryption. F-series changed again to something even harder to crack.

They are not working on cracking the encryption hence no support yet. It's definately crack-able. Dinan and others are able to do a flash tune.

Agree. It's not that COBB doesn't have the technicians that can hack the ECU; though some BMW DMEs had caused them some problems when they went in and look at that coding. BMW is getting more clever by tying functions together so you can't simply change one setting any longer without have to change or check other settings, so I've been told

For Dinan, tuning the DME is easier as they will make all the changes at once and set it. No customizations afterwards to worry about so the code will run correctly. This is why you have to get re-flashed with Dinan for each Stage and do not have selectable Stage maps you can switch back and forth. One of the reasons why Dinan programming is so bullet proof is it can be tested fully before being released. My only issue is the expense of it, $2K for ECU programming is way of the top (specials throughout the year helps reduce this cost). A better business model would be to lower the cost so more speed shops can get more business coming in for the tune and probably buy other parts/service (like going to get gas and you buy food inside too). I think they are worried about watering down the mystic of the Dinan name more than overall revenue.
