Hankook v12 k110

I have had a set of goodyear f1 asymmetric 2's for 2 seasons(summer only), and the rears are pretty shredded, the fronts were wrecked by a poor alignment.

The tire shop i bought them from is going to help me out on a new set of tires, by giving me 1 rear tire for free on a set of 4 Hankook v12 k110s.(because they missed the alignment problem) I know its a cheaper tire, so my question to you all is... would you be happy with this deal? And how do the v12's perform compared to my goodyear's on there now...

While it goes not have quite the level of handling and grip of the Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 2, the Hankook V12 EVO is a good tire for the price and especially popular among the forum guys here. The vast majority of posts I see about them are positive.

I loved my Hankook Ventus V12s. I thought they were a great bargain for the performance. My only gripe was that they had too soft of sidewalls. That being said, Hankook may have addressed this issue with a new, updated Ventus tire.

on tire rack looks like the goodyears are only $68 more for a set of 4 in a staggered setup, and after the 80 goodyear rebate, they'd be cheaper. I wonder if the tire place in question gets a good deal on hankooks and are steering me in that direction. If I buy a new set from them, I think I'll ask them for the same deal they want to give me, but on the same tires...

I used to run V12's; they're a good value at their price point, which I suspect is the reason most people buy them (myself included at the time). They are not nearly as good as Michelin Pilot Super Sports (in every area - grip levels, quietness, how long they last) though that tire is almost 2x as much. You get what you pay for. Good luck.

I put the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO on my 335i and also on my wife's Mazda RX-8. I was pretty happy with them. My wife didn't seem to recognize a difference in quality from the Kumho tires that came off, to the Hankooks that went on. I definitely preferred the Hankooks.

On my 335i, I don't remember what I had on it before, other than the original runflats.

Though I preferred the Hankooks over the previous tires (on both cars), they haven't lasted as long as I had expected. I will not buy them again. The quality of the ride seems to have degraded quickly, and the tread has worn too much.

So, I am going to replace the tires on both cars imminently.

It looks like the Michelin Pilot Super Sports for the 335i as performance is at the top of my list for must-haves. I would put the same on the RX-8, but that car already is so loud in the cabin, that it may not be the best choice. Not a concern for the BMW. Wife doesn't care about the handling as much as comfort, noise, and tread life, as the RX8 is her daily driver, and she doesn't think she drives for performance. But I don't want to get any all-season tires at all (for either car), since each has a second set of wheels with snow tires.

The point of my post, as a response, is that I have the Hankook tires, and will not buy them again. They just are not good enough, even for less money.

Dont expect great traction on wet roads with V12s. Other than that they are good.

I should retract some of what I wrote in my earlier post. I just checked my order history with TireRack, and see that it was September 2009 that I put these K110s on the RX8 and May 2010 on the 335i. For the RX-8, that is four full seasons (April though October or longer) for probably 30,000 miles. I think that is good enough. On the 335i, that's also four full seasons, but fewer miles. And they are not as badly worn as the RX8. I really should have replaced them on the RX8 last year seeing how worn they are now. And definitely needed this year for the 335i.

How many miles are these Hankooks supposed to last?

Most summer-only tires like the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo see roughly 20,000 miles on average. Of course this can vary quite a bit depending on driving style and conditions. 30k is definitely on the high side.

Agreed. Especially if you're running a more performance oriented alignment. I saw a little less than 20K on my Hankook Ventus V12s probably.
