TPMS or ABS Sensors? New smaller 16" wheels set off alert, 2 metal valve stems?
Here's the question:
Is that possible to have TPMS and ONLY have 2 TPMS sensors? Here's the background: So after this horrendous winter the 17" wheels have to go; so I THOUGHT I knew that my car did not have TPMS, as it was (I think) an early 2007 model 328xi. And I KNOW I had 1 rubber valve stem when I bought it CPO. Cutting to the chase, I had 2 of 4 tires (17") with TPMS sensors and everything was fine. When I switched to 16" rims/tires (same basic rotational diameter +/- 5%) without TPMS sensors the sensor went off about 15 miles into the trip. All tires checked out at 35 PSI. I'm thinking it's more likely that I have ABS sensors and just need to reset the sensor? But I've been searching and getting confusing answers: Looking at this thread, the person was saying that there are only "2 sensors one in the front left and one in the front right". Does he mean ABS sensors just are in those hubs? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...496#post240496 Thanks in Advance! |
