Replacing one tire on xi

I have done a search, but I just wanted to double check ok this. I had to replace one of my front tires on my 335xi. I just replaced the one. The tread on the other three tires is about 65% left, and the one I just replaced is obviously 100%.

I only replaced the one because I figured the other tires were in good condition so there wouldn't be a major difference in tread depths. The new one has like 6mm of tread the older ones about 4mm.

Is this okay, or should I have replaced both front tores to ensure that te tread depths are equal? If my other tores were really worn, I would have replaced at least two if not all four, but I figures since the other three tires still had about 65% tread, it was only necessary to replace the one.

Replace all four or find one with similar depth.

I was advised a while back to replace all my tires but because I had around 40% left on others, I would think you could get away with replacing both fronts for now. But could be in for uneven ware since its AWD... Or look into that tire shaving link posted above, never seen that really haha.

I would replace at least two. Or get the new one shaved.

Seriously guys? The used tires are like 65% tread left and you guys are saying to replace at that point? Seems a bit obsessive and like throwing away money. Can anyone else chime in on this?

Instead of guessing how much tread is left, why not buy a tread depth gauge and know for sure. If the tread depth is within ~2/32" I wouldn't worry about it. If it's greater than that, then either find a used tire with similar tread depth or consider getting that new tire shaved down lol too late now.

My guess is, none of the replies here are what you wanted to hear so you could also just keep searching for people to tell you that your current situation will be ok lol askhole

I will buy another tire so they are the same tread on each axle. I take it the other two of lower tread will be okay since they are on the same axle?

Those Tire Rack articles don't really address BMW directly. Seems like you would fit under Porsche/Audi.

Subaru is a bit different because of how their AWD is set up.

I actually just replaced 1 tire today, due to a blow out, but the other 3 have been on for 3 months and have maybe a little more than 1k miles on them, so basically still new.

Is the "within 2/32 range" a standard or just a guess? i bought used tires and the fronts are 9/32 and the rears are about 7.5/32? and i have an Xdrive 328..

should this be fine?
