They have the M-division as benchmark, should be an interesting outcome...

Hyundai is up and coming. They've been luring designers from the big companies for a couple years now. It's only a matter of time before their a real competitor. Then we'll have some other asian market car filling their "cheap car" shoes.

20 years ago who would have thought that Toyota would be competing at the high end of the car market. You can say all you want about "rebadged Toyota's" -The fact is Lexus has a significant share of the luxury car market. And let's face it the name of the game is "Market Share" You can bet that Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, etc. are watching Hyundai very closely.

V6, more than 300hp...
Audi tried to compete with the M all its life but doesn't seem to succeed... what makes Hyundai being able to do this in the first time? |

Well Hyundai hasn't been benchmarking their current cars to other car makers current models. They clearly stated in the article that their using a e46 M3, not a e92 M3. The Elantra was based off the previous Civic, even though the new Civic was already out.
What Hyundai is trying to do is show they can make really good cars by going after cars that have proven to be very good cars. Their not out to beat anyone just yet, just make a point. In 10 years they'll be really getting into the mix of things.

The probably won't do it the first time. But they may get it right the 3rd or 4th.

I mean I hope this doesn't happen but sooner or later all were going to see on the roads are Japanese cars, unless your a die heart fan of German engineering. Toyota and Hyundai theres to many to name so that just tells you whats happening. If I were to guess I'd say at least 70% of the cars on the roads we see today are Japanese cars.

Very Infiniti / Nissanish...hmmm, kind of bothers me when a company can't come out with their OWN look...taking a few styling Q's from another company is one thing, but that car really looks like it came out of the Nissan plant.

Well I had an 03 Tiburon, which I supercharged and was putting over 250hp to the wheels along with 250 ft/lbs of torque to the wheels. I ran a 13.7 with no weight reduction. It was an excellent car and I miss driving it because it was so much damn fun. This is my first BMW and I love the quality, but it's not half as fun to drive. Just because Hyundai is up and coming does not mean they make bad cars. A 300 hp rwd car like this is a great achievement for the brand, and if it was out when I bought the BMW it might have been a tough choice to make.

I had a '01 Hyundai Elantra. That car was in the shop a lot less then m BMw has been. I've been plagued with problems with my BMW. Plus Hyundai Cleaned the car like you got it detailed every time it was in. My BMW when I get it back looks like I sprayed it down with a hose at my house.

it looks like they looked into the toyota design for this. Look at the headlights (camry like). Tail looks a little like a Solara. But overall, it looks super hot though.
