Auto headlight excessively sensitive

I’ve had my F30 with visibility pack for almost 5 months, but have noticed all this while the headlights stays on more often than any other car I’ve owned with auto lights. Especially when coming out of a tunnel, it stays on for 3 – 8 mins or longer before it turns off even when the weather is relatively normal.

My previous/current cars with auto headlight turn off after 5 seconds of leaving a tunnel or passing under a flyover (I know I’m weird but I do count) whereas the F30 seem to be excessively sensitive and takes eternity before it realises to turn off.

It’s so irritating that I switch off the headlights manually after exiting a tunnel as I dislike the headlights staying on during daytime….

My other half’s (13)Audi A5 auto lights works as normal.

What could be the cause?!

Definitely not getting this with mine, I drive through a tunnel regularly and the lights go on and off within seconds of entering/leaving the tunnel.

Maybe a fault with the sensor or some kind of obstruction on the sensor array?

Bearing in mind of course, this being winter, the auto lights will come on more often due to the sun being low in the sky (I think they come on when the sun is behind you), makes you more visible to on-coming traffic.

Maybe the auto headlight unit needs to be reset, as is the case with people that have had trouble with the auto wiper sensitivity needing the wiper unit to be reset?

Will take it to the dealer tomorrow, hopefully the reset improves the sensitivity.

Just to clarify, i do not know if it can be done! Just a hunch because of the wiper reset that's possible!

I'd probably call the dealer before driving all the way down there.

Can't you just adjust lights sensitivity? I have this options in e92 - 3 steps: sensitive, normal, slow.
