Car shut off then back on

Dig this. Yesterday I got back from a short 60 mile trip. Pulled in, put in reverse and backed up, put in park. Car shuts off then back on immediately. This was strange to say the least.

I'd start with the battery voltage and check battery connections but I'm just guessing.

You sure you're not driving an F30 with start/stop technology?

Sounds like an electrical short of some kind to me. Just not sure how you'd go about finding it... Did you recently do any mods like removing the interior trim (start button) or anything else near wiring?

Idk about the e90 but my GL450 had that problem turned out to be the cam positioning sensor. Darnest thing, usually when I came to a stop it would shut off then restart it self.

Battery is new as of Thanksgiving. Never done any mods (I like it just the way it is). I'll let my service advisor know when I get it serviced next.

+1 on some sort of engine sensor then. I also seem to remember reading a post on this forum about the same issue and they had water in the ecu box that was causing a short as it moved about. Did you search the forum yet?
