2015 M3 or 2015 GTR
My 2013 e92 M3 lease is about to be up within the next 10 months, and i'm starting to consider what my next car is going to be. I will be making a big move this summer from NY to California so weather won't be a big issue anymore. I would just like to hear some insight from you guys who have considered either of these cars....what would you go for? Honestly power wise the GTR obviously wins, however, any wise words from fellow m3 members that will help me lean towards an m3?(Bias opinions also are cool) lol

Is it going to be your only car, will you take it to the track?
If its a daily driver, M3/4, regardless where you live. If its your second or third car, forget about Nissan or anything else if high performance is what you are after. Wait for c7 z06. That is what i am waiting for |

I am asking the same question than the OP. The 2015 GTR should be a better DD due to the revised suspension, noise cancelling etc. Still the interior is unchanged, the rear seat is tight and my kids are getting taller.

You already have a GT3RS, I think that will do for track duty! Go with the M3 as a daily

And I believe the current body will continue until 2017.

And a lot of people wouldn't get a GTR if they were paid to take it. Like me.

New vs new I think the GTR is a better value, so long as they don't keep hiking the price too much. I love my M3 but would never have paid full sticker for it.
However if you're at all on a budget the M3 would probably be a better daily as far as initial purchase price and maintenance goes. As a second car I would choose the GTR. |

The new M3/4 is tempting though! The real solution is to get a 4 post lift to add one more car, just don't have a forklift to remove the damn thing from the freight truck. |

No point choosing a M3 over GTR if price isn't an issue, since M3 has already lost it's high rev V8 N/A engine, might as well go all out and buy the fastest F/I car for the price range.

If your looking to go low profile, im sure the GT3RS gets a ton of attention, go with the M3/M4. Ive gotten more comments on my GT-R in two months than I did in 14 years of owning M3s |

The GTR is all about the numbers. If I was in a race for money it would certainly be my weapon of choice. It is a very easy car to drive very fast.
In terms of daily enjoyability, however, the M3 can provide a lot more sheer fun at semi-normal speeds as well. It is still objectively fast, but has the subjective characteristics that contribute to driving enjoyment as well. There really is a phenomenon such that a car is simply too capable to enjoy on public roadways. Part of the enjoyment of driving is not just the knowledge that you car can do a sub-11 1/4 mile, but all of the sensations your body and brain experience when you drive. A GTR's limits are so high that these sensations can not be experienced except on a racetrack or airstrip. Not to mention that the noises it makes are most displeasureable. I have also come to realize that a manual gearbox is just so much more enjoyable than a dual clutch. Sure the shifts are fast, but after that novelty wears off, it is just an automatic, and any idiot can blip paddles all day long. So....if you want ultimate bragging rights and/or the objetcively faster vehicle, get the GTR. If you want the more fun, subjectively more enjoyable vehicle, get an M3/4 with a manual gearbox. For me, so long as they are made, my fun car will always be normally aspirated, moderately powered, and manual gearbox. That eliminates the next M3/4. Audi R8, Porsche 911 or Cayman, Aston Martin Vantage are the current contenders for my M3 replacement..but that is still a ways off. I am still completely loving my M3.
