1200 mile service: go early or go late?

I'm sitting at around 850 miles on the M5 so far. On Friday I am driving up to Vegas and back on Sunday. Round trip is going to be about 580 miles.

Should I have my 1200 mile service done early, or wait til I get back even though I will be past the 1200 miles.

Vegas baby, Vegas!

Go late seems most logical IMO.

on the basis you have had your car for a month now and will no doubt have maybe another couple of hundred miles on the clock before you go on Friday taking you to say c.1000-1050 miles, id get the run in service done before you go to Vegas. at least then, you can open the taps up for the first time on your roadtrip to vegas

id ask your dealer if there are any warranty, resale or other problems with performing the run-in service after 1650 miles rather than the recommended 1200...

Question.. I think it's all covered, but are there any exclusions (beyond Ceramic Brakes) to the 4/50K service program? I mean, all scheduled maint is also included on the M5 like my other BMW's, correct?

Never asked and thought I should. Thanks!

As far as I know everything is covered just like any other bmw except for the CCB's in the 4/50K.

My service advisor, who I have used since '03, said to wait until I get back.

If you leave now, you could grab the wife or girlfriend (but I suggest not both) do 150 miles or so in some random direction (Google says Lukeville is 150 miles from Phoenix), have a nice dinner and be back with 1200 on the clock long before bedtime. Tell her it is an early Valentines day surprise.

Tempting, however, with no one to watch the kids tonight (ages 3 and 5) I don't think that it would be the most enjoyable drive with all of us.

Not sure if rules same in USA as UK, but most dealers won't allow you to complete a service more than a 100 miles before it's due. On that basis wait until you get back, as you can't do any harm, just have to drive carefully for a bit longer!

In the UK they recommend no more than 1400 miles, warrantee at risk over that, it's a choice I would not make, stick as close too 1200 as you can.
Some dealerships here MAY let you extend the miles ................ but
