Mineral White GT

Just ordered my GT on Saturday 2-1. My 3 series just does not have the rear seat or trunk storage that I need anymore. Dealer says 6-8 weeks to be safe but said some cars are coming in at 5. What is the average time frame people have been receiving their cars? I cant wait to get it to put my VMR 19's on it to give it a better look.

Where are you located? (It doesn't show on the mobile site.)

I'm in Texas. Ordered in late November (11/22 IIRC) and the car arrived at the dealership yesterday. Earliest possible pickup would have been tomorrow (2/3). I'm too lazy to do the math, but I think it's more than 8 weeks.

I ordered mine on Dec 18, it just arrived at the port in Germany on Friday waiting to get on the ship over here, so not sure how long that will take.

I am out of Illinois. Hey kooch what dealer did you order out of in Chitown. I was dealing with a few but could not come up with a deal. Well I hope it does not take 8 weeks. I just saw on the other forum a guy said it took 3 additional weeks for his car once it hit the port in Germany. My dealer claims they have been seeing cars come in as early as 5 weeks but want to be safe and say 6-8.

Hey, I ordered mine from Perillo downtown. It's closest to me and where I first went to check them out. I worked with a really low pressure guy, and feel I'm getting a pretty good deal. I'm 6 weeks in to the wait, they had one already allotted to them for an end of January build date that I was able to get and was told it could save me time. I'm hoping it will be here in a couple weeks. I still have yet to see a 3 series GT driving around. I test drove the 328, but they haven't had a 335 come in yet.

I've heard that neither of the BMW dealerships in Dallas or Plano (northern suburb) has had a single 335i GT come through that was not pre-ordered. Even 328i GTs are tough to come by. When I was finalizing my desired configuration, the two area dealerships had exactly 1 M Sport GT between them that I could look at.

I don't know if BMW has some sort of allocation system for the various models, or if the dealerships can order whatever they want, but it sure seems like someone somewhere is being very cautious about letting too many GTs out too fast. Perhaps they see keeping the 3 GT as a "niche" vehicle as a way to hedge against a reaction like the 5 GT received -- "We don't care if most people don't like it; it's not for most people."

I have to admit that I find the idea of driving a fairly unique 3-series to be kind of cool. (There are a lot of 3-series sedans out there.)

I couldn't agree more with driving something not everyone has. I think you are correct about the allocating, my dealer made it sound like I was lucky they already had one allocated to them? I kind of wonder if the production line for the 3GT is fairly small, so that they can test the market for the car before spending money on a larger facility.

I have yet to see a GT on the road and when I was looking at dealer inventory before I ordered there was not much. I only found 3 mineral white's within a 350 miles radius and only 40 in the whole US. When I finally drove 2 hours to look at one but did not purchase that day, it was gone in 3. I tried to find one with the options I wanted and finally just ended up ordering. As far as what other BMW owners think I dont care I like the GT and it is perfect for my family. My only other choice was an X5 and my wife wanted nothing to do with it.

I don't know what the production numbers they're turning out are like, but when I did my euro delivery in December I saw GTs everywhere in Munich (more F34s than F31s) and a couple around Fussen. I got the impression it's quickly becoming a popular car in Europe.

They are less hatch-averse in Germany. I was so amused by the uproar on this site when people found out that the new 4GC is a hatchback.

Yes, the 4GC backlash to it having a hatch is hilarious. It's not like we're not looking at an E36ti implementation here...The thing barely even looks like a hatchback from the outside with the way they executed the boot-lid line.

Just picked my GT up yesterday from my dealer. It took seven weeks to get it but it is finally at home. Car is way different from my 335i and has way more room! Now I will be getting my windows tinted Saturday and get my 19's on next week.

My order went in to BMW on Monday, March 17th and went into production this Monday, March 24th (still in production according to MyBMW). CA called this morning to give me the VIN and stated she is certain the dealer should have it by the 2nd week in April!! I think she's a little optimistic; I think it will be later in April. Only time will tell. Mine will be delivered to Akron, OH. Definitely stoked.

Mine was delivered to Baltimore on Mar 9th but never hit the dealer until Mar 24th. Held for that long out there for some reason.

Oh man that's a long time in MD! Mine is scheduled to arrive in Baltimore on 4/4 so I hope it doesn't take another 2 weeks after that to get here but I better assume it will.
