Things I will miss about my E92

Well, I have an F30 335xd due in a week or so. I thought I would reflect on my 18 months with the E92 320d.

I bought the car new in 2012, and this was the first new car I have ever bought. It was a superb life affirming experience. I fell in love with the look of the car and could not believe the deal I had negotiated.

As it was the very last day of Q2 at 1700 I did not even get time to test drive, and a sorely wish I had, as unfortunately, the main reason for changing so soon is the lack of performance. However, lets not dwell on that as the LCI E92 has so many positives on offer.

First of all, the way it looks. In White, M Sport + guise with the 19" 313's, Sport + bumper and spoiler it is simply stunning. I love looking at it. The interior is also a very nice place to be, and the seats are brilliant.

Second of all, the way it steers and handles. You can really feel the surface of the road through your hands. You have to drive something with worse steering to really appreciate just how good it is in the E92. Turn in is very sharp, and the car seems to revolve around your hips. Just brilliant.

Thirdly, the economy is superb, and the tax is so low. This car has helped me clear a large amount of Student Debt, and helped me save up ££££'s for the first time in my life.

I will be sad to hand it back to BMW for these reasons. Great car indeed.

Just curious as to why you think it was underpowered? I have pretty much the same car as you, an Alpine White 320d E92 LCI 184bhp, sure its not gonna set the world on fire but in todays speed limited world full of potholes & poor road surfaces thinking do you really need something A LOT faster? I've always had 330ci E46's with 231bhp & they were quicker than the E92 but i can't say i feel i'm missing out, theres ample enough power for overtaking & even in 6th put your foot down & its off!

I'm currently driving a courtesy car F30 320d M sport & it definatley doesnt feel as connected to the road, the driving sensation is relaxing but not as 'agile' as the e92.

Just my opinion of course, but i'm sure youll love the F30 regardless

OK, underpowered is the wrong thing to say. What I mean is I did not test drive it, and it has never lived up to my expectations/ personal preference. Like I said, I don't want to dwell on it!

wasn't saying you were wrong mate, just interested in your point of view that's all! I just found the car a lot quicker than I was expecting for the running costs

Well, my beautiful E92 left my heraldship last Saturday, and I have the F30 335d. Here is a link to some pics.

The F30 with a big diesel lump up front certainly shows how well the E92 with a small lump up front handles.

But the F30 335d is a mighty impressive car, and I am VERY happy with it

There is a lot to be said for POWER!!!! But of course it is not for everyone.

It's the climb from 25 to ~70 on a empty motorway slip road that I will miss when changing the car the other way.

Think that's one of my fav things about power as well, just that on the move shove rather than standing starts as they're rarely relevant. Slip roads are brilliant for that reason!
