Centre Console/Storage
Not sure if this is normal or not, but my Centre Console/Armrest Storage seems to have warm air being blown into it...
Somebody has told me that it should be cool air all the time as it is classed as a 'coolbox', first I've heard of it to be honest. But now that it's winter and I have my heating on, I've definitley noticed that it is warm air being blown into it (Hot can of Fanta just isnt the same) Any Ideas guys... is this normal? Cheers, Matthew |

I'm lead to believe that the air is controlled by the air setting on the rear air blowers (on the back of the centre console, for rear passengers) if that is set to hot, the cup holder will blow hot air.

Just checked it again, there is a switch next to the cup holder inside the armrest, was showing 'I' for on, switched this to 'O' and its turned off, still doesnt explain why its blowing hot air into it if it should be a coolboox tho...

With the switch set to on, the temperature of the air going through the compartment is dictated by the temperature control on the rear air vents though if it's winter and you have the main system fairly high, it won't make a lot of difference.
However, if you have the air con light on, even with 21 or 22c on the climate, the cold setting on the rear air vents will ensure that the temperature in the centre console doesn't get very high. Basically, it's a summer thing and it then keeps a can really cool even after a few hundred miles. Similarly, if you turn the control to cold under the centre vents in the front, in winter, with temperatures up but air con off, the air from the centre vents isn't very cool but if you then switch the air con on, although the temperature of the rest of the car remains the same, the centre vents do emit cooler air. |

Set the rear to cold, turn the rear vents off as you obviously don't want cold air being blown in to the car.
Will keep stuff fairly cold, never warm. Someone set my rear vents to warm, went to grab a drink on a long journey, warm redbull, mmm.... |

Mine works really well, kept some cheese (not as odd as it's sounds - left over food from a week away!) in there on a 300 miles journey home, just like being being in a fridge.
