Oil Temp Display

Hi All,

Is there anyway to get the Oil Temp displayed on the car via the idrive screen, or more appropriately via the display near the speedo? Can this be done via access to a hidden menu, or would it only be possible with a bit of coding magic?

Thats a shame, I hoped it could be enabled some how. I know if you get the Performance steering wheel with the built-in display it shows that info (so it reads the temp), so i figured it just needed a setting to display it somewhere.

I assumed that you still needed a sender added somewhere to measure the oil temperature, regardless of how you're going to display it. Am I wrong? Is there already a sender and data stream for oil temp, and if so is there a way too tap into it and display the temp?

Thats what I mean, given the performance wheel with display can show it, I figured the sender was already there - but I could be wrong.

I have TorquePro & there's no oil temp display option, although this on an LCI 320d so there may be on the 330i

I thought all the 6 cylinders got an oil temp gauge instead of the MPG meter in the rev counter?

So no definitive answer on if this can be done or not?

The only cars to get the oil temp gauge instead of the instant MPG read out in the rev counter is the 335i and the M3. It's not pot luck on a six cylinder if you have one or not, you just need one of those two models.

I use my Accessport to show Live Data for Oil Temperature.

Easy enough until it gets past the 120* F mark.

Sorry I was talking about E90/91 models as the OP has a E91.

On the E92/93 oil temp gauge was standard on all 6 cylinder petrol models.

OK, but are we saying that only the 335 and M3 have the oil temp sender as standard?
