M3 control arms

I have been reading up about fitting m3 control arms and subframe bushes for my e92 330D

Every post I read is from the USA

Has anyone from the UK done this and can give me some info?

What the kit people are using is ect.

A lot of people talking about TSW

Who are they and what's the difference between TSW and OEM??

TRW make the OEM M3 arms. They just rub off the M stamp when selling it themselves.

Plenty have done it, just not everyone has documented it. There's a good write up by Alpina_B3_Lux (based in europe).

If you read the linked thread, a member called phil has installed them, but just the fronts.

Garage List
Out of interest, what alignment settings did your garage use? Reading through Phil's thread, it seems the M3 geometry didn't suit his car at all.

The m3 toe was slightly too aggressive. The car was pulling hard on road camber and even strong winds! The rear end also felt loose.. Ok now though.

Annoyingly one of the rear arms got flagged on the MOT as having excessive play.... Should have just done them all and been done with it! Alignments are expensive!

I was going to go this route... but i think i am just going to buy some powerflex bushes, have them fitted and call it a day... no alignment needed after

I've got m3 lower arms and powerflex bushes in my original tension struts which I bought off here barely used.

I think a better choice would be to replace with tension and control arm bushes with poly ones and then get the camber pins pulled and increase the camber up front. Would require the alignment but would you'd get the other advantage of m3 lower arms too.

Why? Nothing is being adjusted? just old bushes popped out and new ones inserted.

I'm happy with the stock handling too... So doubt i would even consider increasing the camber... I know the extra wear on the tyres in minimal as long as it is all set up correctly...

but its ALL being adjusted, just taking it off the car and re-fitting the exact same arm without doing anything do it, is adjusting it.

suspension geometry is minute changes, literally segments of a degree (minutes). removing something and replacing it is going to require you to recheck all the settings. regardless if you want M3 geometry or OE.

This is 100% true, alignment is necessary if anything to do with the suspension has its bolts undone. Just a few twists can change everything.

Get the levelling rod from bmminiparts. Only required if you have xenons.

I have a set of the rear arms (brand new in boxes) if you are about to order these. £180 shipped.

As far as I know it's just the one rod.

I've got part numbers:

JTC1428
JTC1429
JTC1430
JTC1431

I'd let them go for £180 shipped - ie £25 cheaper than anywhere else..

Afraid not.

I'm already losing £25 plus postage £12 on them.

They are brand new in boxes.

You are welcome to buy at full price from elsewhere. My price isn't unreasonable.

Let me know if you want them.
