So long 335i

So after 18 very enjoyable months I have parted with my 335i. The car was a joy to own and my first BMW. The car was a 2008 so was out of warranty. A few months ago I had a problem with the car having no boost which ended up being down to be ruptured actuator pressure converters. Before it was diagnosed, I thought my turbos had gone. Once repaired, I decided I wanted a car with warranty again.

Christmas came early for me yesterday and I collected my new car. A BMW M135i.

Spec

3dr
8 speed ZF semi auto
Estoril Blue
Black leather
Sun protection Pack
Harmon kardon HiFi
Black panel display

I've still got to wait for the engine to loosen up so I've not pushed it hard but the engine feels very eager and revvy compared to my 335i. The gearbox is amazing and far superior to the auto box I had in my non DCT 335i. It sounds a lot better too. Some of the interior materials feel a bit cheap compared to my previous 3 series but all the bits that matter like the engine, suspension, running gear etc... Feel great. Very pleased with it so far and I was given a very good deal too.

Heres some quick phone snaps from the services on the way home.

Lovely !

I have been tempted by a 135i after my 330d went out of warranty - but chose to have it remapped to keep me interested in it for a bit longer ;-)

Lovely little car this. As above looks great in that colour. When my 335d went I nearly decided to lease one of these as the deals are so good at the minute.

Bet it's a flying machine.

Mate, that driver's seat has suffered some serious butt clenching already. Looks like you're driving it hard!

Haha

I had a 9.5hr round trip to collect it yesterday. Manchester to Royal Tunbridge Wells. The photo was taken moments after I'd been sat in the seat for about 3hrs. The leather is nice and supple but thankfully it's not dented from my fat arse anymore.

When I tried one I found it quite cramped compared to my 3 series with my left leg wedged against the centre console ... I would be interested to know too ..

As Rudz mentioned I have had trouble in the past. I ordered an M135i in the summer but cancelled it after I found it too cramped.

Compared to the E92, it is more snug. It's big enough for most but I have a torn muscle in my chest. I drive with my elbows placed wider apart than normal so the steering wheel is positioned closer to the door than I would ideally like. The first test drive I had, I didn't realise you could tilt the seat. I thought you could only adjust it up/down and forward/back. Tilting the seat back allows me to position my elbow away from the area of the door card my elbow was fouling on so everything is ok now.

My left leg is fine and doesn't rub on the centre console.

If you just carefully run the hair dryer on the seat you'll remove the stretch marks. Just make sure you reapply leather conditioner afterwards. Its a nice car, mate!

3 months in and still very impressed with the little M light. I treated her to a BMW M Performance exhaust last week. The chrome tailpipes stand out more against the dark diffuser than the original black tips and she sounds a bit more fruity too. Here's a start up video clip taken today in the sunshine. She pops and bangs a lot more on a cold morning.

Amazing car, brilliant gearbox and can get almost 30mpg on M-way cruise in Eco-pro mode.

My fan is very loud though once going through traffic in London, but then that might be due to stop/start and engine running in.

Love the exhaust you have there! Amazing noise!

30mpg?! Would be hoping for better than that considering I get 35 in the 335i on a motorway run.

Looks like a nice move OP and one that I keep considering. That exhaust note is lovely, very similar to the old BMW PE system.

I drove from Tunbridge Wells to Manchester when Icollected my car and I averaged 39.8mpg. With mixed driving I'm averaging 28.7mpg. I was averaging 23mpg in my 335i

Thanks.

The video clip doesn't do the exhaust justice tbh. It sound great on gear changes too. Test drive one if your considering a change. It's a hoot to drive.
