335i sedan or coupe
Im in the market for a 335i. I just have to part out and sell/trade in my Evo 8. I recently just got the G/F a X3. So i basically have the family/roomy car for the beach, shopping, etc etc.
Ive seen pictures of all the coupes and love them.Ive driven a coupe and sedan, and liked both.Im not into the whole upgrading turbos, etc etc.just nice wide wheels, drop and maybe a lip. I have owned a 2 door car and a 4door car before.i personally like the 4 door being more room and not having to push the seat forward to get others in and out the back, etc. So I know its a personal suggestion but what do you think? Can you guys post pics of sedans with wide wheels/drop etc.to maybe help me out.ive seen coupes like that and flat out sick. thanks guys. BTW evo 8 for sale if anyones interested.Fresh New "top secret" gold paint, everything back to stock, all bumpers freshly aligned, headlights sanding and cleaned up.etc.

Go for the coupe since you have an X3. Also, many members on the forum have dropped Coupes, for example:

^ There it is
Both cars look great IMO. You said you have the X3 for the room when you need it, so why not go for the coupe. I personally like the way the coupe feels over the sedan. Has a more sporty feel to it. Goodluck with your choice. |

i was thinking the same thing.i have the X3 for the shopping/dog/ etc etc..and im more of a sporty car person.just wanting to get pics of 4doors with drops and wheels.im most likely going coupe but just looking at my options.
also i cant remember but is the coupe cheaper?and if i dont really mind the hp anymore is a 328i more for me?a 328i is the same thing just not twin turbo, correct?im not into dragging the car, dyno numbers etc.if thats the case then maybe a 328i is for me.if its all the same but the motor.

Correct, the 328i has the same 3.0 Liter 24-Value Inline-6 as the 335i, just without the twin-turbos and it produces 230hp. Pimp Star |

BMW E92 335i Coupe - $40,800 (300-hp) The 335i has a slightly different exhaust system as the 328, the 328 has two side exhaust while the 335's exhaust pipes come out more in the middle. Pimp Star Quote:

Oh and to the OP, besides the motor and other small things (i.e. black grills/black mesh/etc), the 335 auto also gets the ZF tranny while the 328 uses a GM transmission. |

Have you been in the car? I can't believe you'd call an X3 roomy.

I just like the coupe, and do think it looks better and is a little more unique. It'll always be less in numbers, just the nature of them. But the ingress/egress is not the greatest, esp. w/sport seats. The doors feel quite long on the 3rd stop when they open. It's totally subjective, I even liked the description of the suspension and stiffness of the chassis that was advertised about the coupe.

Wrong! Depends on the options you want in your car...
Quote:
Then there is the fact you are coming from an Evo. Why did you buy an Evo? I am sure you loved the power. 328 will dissapoint you, it only takes some getting used to, then the wishing begins. Trust me, I had an Eclipse Turbo, and despite being a BMW for whatever thats worth, my 330 just plain pales in comparison to that "crappy" car. So I bought a 335i. You are ofcourse in denial, when you say power does not matter. Be honest to yourself, and buy what you want not what you need. If money is an issue which usually is the number one reason people make these power doesn't matter statements, then there is no shame in that. All I tell my friends is wait a little save a little more and get what you really want instead of wishing for the x yrs you have the car, that you got the more powerful model. If you are leasing, I'd still say get the 335, but in this case, don't worry about the tranny in the 328. If you are buying for keeps past warranty, do yourself a favor and stay away from that POS tranny because they tend to go either very early on in life or about 80K. My first one went at 90miles. Next one was at 110K miles. I have a co-worker whose tranny expired at 65K, and yet another friend with issues at 89K and trying to make it someone else's problem. I love BMW cars, but BMW service is shit. Customer service by BMWNA when big things go wrong is the worst I have ever had to deal with. I have had Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Crystler, and BMW and unfortunately after 5 bimmers, I have to honestly say, BMW is the worst. No car drives like one, but when shit hits the fan, you are alone. No matter you paid through the nose for it. I currently own a 330ci and 335i coupe. My 335 has serious I-Drive issues they haven't managed to fix in 4 months. I am getting ready to take this to court to get my money back and lemon the car if its not fixed next week. I have an appointment. Its a real PITA. But if you are looking at a non base 328 vs non-base 335i, go 335i absolutely.

It doesn't share the same engine at all. Totally different blocks.

Personally, I chose the Sedan over the Coupe.
But it's really a matter of taste, we can't decide that for you. Here's my car without a wash

CAUTION FLAMERS: This is subjective, biased, personal opinion!!!!
From someone that owned the sedan 06 e90 325i. I now have on order e92. Coupe needs no modding and still looks sporty and agressive. Sedan does not. I'm talking about stock. That being said, I saw some pics (on this forum and this thread) of some awesome sedans. They just need a lot more work to get the sporty look. By default sedan is a people mover. Just my .02. Your decision should be also based on your needs and daily driving habbits.

I went with the coupe as the lines are much sexier and the body is more aggressive looking. I have two boys 5/7 and have had no issues with them using the back seats. Took a trip to Disneyland and no complaints on the trip at all.
I really enjoy my coupe and I did have reservations before I got my car. I am glad I went with the coupe. I also will add though, a guy that used to work for me had one of the best looking sedans I have ever seen.

You have the X3 for any time you need to haul stuff or passengers. The coupe is a trillion times better looking than the sedan. The 3 series coupe is one of the best looking cars out there...sedan...not so much.
If you personally don't care either way...then get the cheaper of the two. |

Got the wife an X5 - So we can pull off the coupe.
Coming from an e90 previously I can honestly tell you that the sedan adds the doors at some cost of a little bit of driver comfort. The coupe and sedan have different driver feedback, comfort and style. The sedan is a sporty sedan. And the coupe is - sex on wheels. =P |
