Playing your iphone 5 music, what connector do you use?

Just wondering what people use to play their music through the standard USB headunit? I'm using a 3.5mm jack in the aux at the moment and the sound quality is quite poor

Would the bmw iPod lead with the apple lightening adaptor work? My headunit is an lci professional with built in USB and Bluetooth

Cheers

Kensington device, quite old now but plugs into dock and AUX with a wireless remote. Can't get it now but works really well with the dock<>mini dock adapter for iPhone 5

This is what I do. I originally had an iPhone 4 and then when I upgraded to the 5, I doubted if the lightening adaptor would work. But I was bought one last Christmas and all works OK (with the BMW iPod (30 pin) lead), including track listing and control via the steering wheel etc.

NB I got the original Apple adaptor, but I don't see why a cheaper eBay version wouldn't work. Worth a punt for a couple of quid!

eBay ones don't work. There's a chip built into the apple one that converts digital to analogue and these cheep ones don't have it. They will let you charge your phone but no audio... However, there is one (on amazon) with a lightning adaptor and a 3.5mm jack which does do data and audio.

I just use a cheep amazon Y cable and an apple connector which works perfectly!

Yeah I only have the aux jack as well...initially the quality was pretty crap, but then I got a really good quality cable and it is much better...although still no where near CD/USB quality

But good enough for the time being I guess...

I found this too-investing in a decent cable makes a big difference. Still not CD quality but enough for even reasonably loud music not to be ruined by my average speakers!

i used a kensington liquid aux for years with a brodit active holder with iphone 3g and 4.

when i got a 5s i looked at the cheap ebay jobs but in the end just went for the official apple lightning adapter, the whole thing still works fine. haven't tried the remote function yet (needs new battery, and i hardly use it anyway). i decided the cost saving was not worth the risk of an ebay job being crap/not working.
