Defrosting the car / micting of inside windsceen
So what's the quickest way of defrosting your F30/F31 ?
I switch on, turn the blowers for max airflow to the windscreen and sit on the driveway for what seems like ages until the inside clears off enough. As mentioned in other posts, I leave the aircon on, auto is on and I use the middle vent control to adjust airflow on my face and that is it for normal driving - is this right ? In the mornings the inside if the windscreen is 'misted' up (as is the inside rear) I hate having to wipe the inside of my window off in the mornings, this leaves a smear that needs to be cleaned off with decent glass cleaner. I have the similar issues with the inside of the rear window as well - I have wondered about getting something like rain repeller for the outside and anti-mist for the inside - has anyone elese used these and got decent results? Thanks in advance Jason

I don't get this problem, I leave the environment control in auto, temp is usually just set around 22 or 23 and I don't adjust any of the controls other than maybe using the max windscreen blower button (somewhere on the left).
I don't switch on A/C either, in full auto mode the environment control is suppose to detect condensation building up and adjust itself accordingly to prevent it (the cheesely named Driver Experience switch needs to be in Comfort Mode for this incidently). In the mornings I have been switching on the car 5 to 10 mins before getting in and heading off.

It will take approx 5 min in comfort mode to clear all windscreen, rear window, door mirrors and heated seats come to life as well. If you are in Eco mode this will take ages to clear.

Maybe because your car starts in Eco Pro you are getting this problem? I've noticed whilst driving in Eco Pro the windscreen can easily mist up if it's raining outside etc.. Eco Pro reduces the functionality of the A/C so it's not drying the air, can you manually switch it to Comfort when you turn it on first thing to see if it helps?

There is either ingress of water, (leaks or wet clothing, etc.), or the HVAC is not doing (or not allowed by the user) to do its job. Understand the Eco Pro issue, read of this several times across different topics. Can't you disable the climate part in the iDrive? I'm sure the F30 320d ED I used allowed that. I'm up in Lochaber highland region, one of the worst areas in the country for high humidity. I live at the bottom of a Glen, at the meeting of two rivers and never have issues with internal misting. What are some of you guys doing with your A/C systems? HighlandPete |

I have experienced that the front passenger window 'Steams' up the moment someone gets into the car - started to think that the door seal is not good.
I will tuen off eco mode and the A/c unit and just rely on 'Auto Mode' for a few dats and see what happens !! Thanks for your comments

Don't forget that the lung capacity of the average human male is 6 litres and female is 4.5 litres - depending on the number of people in the car, this can be lots of litres of exhaled air per breath with a normal respiratory rate of perhaps 12-15 breaths per minute, exhaling 3-4 litres per breath (rough calculations).
This air will be warm air and full of moisture which clearly doesn't help with misting! I find the best thing to do is start the car, leave the A/C on (it helps) and put the blowers onto the windscreen for a few minutes, lock the car (while it is still running) and return to the house for some Corn Flakes. Although the car is running unattended (which if stolen, would not be covered by insurance), it is locked which means that i'm not worried about the car getting stolen and once i've downed my cereal, it's all clear and ready to go!
