Anyone who's very familiar with JB4?
I know many people will tell me to search it my self but I will just ask the questions straight away because they are not that easy to find...
1.Why those people always mix E85 with their petrol? any good? 2.According to the user guide, map 5 is a map that can check many things of the car and gives the best performance from the engine, then why nearly nobody use it. 3.what does flash means 4.How to pass the MOT after I change the down pipes, will the down pipes reduce the torque. 5.Am I still be able to choose JB4 menus if I change to M3 cluster(swap the mother board of cluster) those are the questions so far, anyone can give any idea then I will appreciated... |

1. Does not affect you, cant get it here but it has a better octane level so, more power.
2. Loads of people use it, dont know where you heard that 3. Getting your bits out in the park ? 4. generally if the car is warmed up, it will be ok but, has been known to be close on emissions. 5. Not sure [ also not sure why you would want a M3 dash ]

1) As above - not available in the UK unfortunately
2) Map 5 pushes up boost based on conditions, mods and octane. Everyone should use it as their map of choice unless running meth (map3). 3) A Flash is a remap of the ECU delivered via the OBD port. Most tuning companies produce flash maps delivered via laptops and cables or dedicated hardware. There are now opensource maps freely available for people with Bavarian Technic cables.. 4)DPs and MOTS are a risky business. If the MoT tester notices and cares - its an automatic fail to remove emissions devices from the exhaust.. If he doesn't notice or care there is still the risk of failing the emissions test. Mine failed a couple of weeks ago - I suspect my plugs need changing though. He let it through anyway. 5) I'd expect the cluster to still work if its plug and play and required no coding. Best check with Terry@BMS

Ive got catless downpipes, lost a bit of low down torque but it pulls harder up top.
If he wants to put an M3 cluster on his car he can...you've always got something to say. |

I drive m3's all the time and apart from the power they're just annoying as a normal drive.Very sluggish low down, noisey, awful on fuel, clutch on manuals is rubbish, and the DCT is no match for a proper auto.Aside from the looks I much prefer jumping into my 335i after work and having a useable drive. And once it's tuned will be almost as quick as one.I like the combo of m3 looks and 335 I useability.

It's awful on fuel,it's got massive fuel injectors and independent throttle bodies.Lucky to get 15 mpg urban and low 20's on a motorway. The e46 and e92 m3's are nothing alike. The e46 feels ancient to drive in comparison to the e92.Its just not worth the extra costs over the 335.I had a chance at a brand new e92 m3 on lease a whole back for £350 a month but turned it down due to stupid running costs.

I notice KER has lots of opinions lately and like to argue.

The forum would be very quiet if nobody had anything to say. Lol. Think you've had more than your fair share of "moments". |

I had given the car a day in map5 to let the autotune work with a few hard runs, so on the dyno ran my first run on map5, then switched to map1 for the second run. There was literally 1hp difference between them. Both made 360bhp/360lbs ft. |

No, I'd imagine that's ATF (DynoDynamics RR). What's RWD transmission loss, 14-17%? If it were ATW that would give me ATF figure of around 385bhp+ which is too high for the mods I have (from what I garner through previous research).
I'd need to get downpipes, FMIC and run map2/map5 to extract more power. |

Oh ok-makes sense.
So the 400bhp+ figure that is quoted on the JB website is presumably with a full set of mods? Just curious to work out how much power mine will put out with map 5 and no mods at all. Either way I can certainly feel the difference! |

370-380 on stock I think is what you can get. More than that you need to go catless.
