Fallout protection

What should those of us in the fallout zones here in SoCal be doing about our paint.

No, I'm not THAT shallow, I don't have any more room in my house, I already have two brother-in-laws moved into the two spare bedrooms with their combined 5 kids.

Am I wasting my time to wash it every day if it gets ash all over it before I could ever dry it? Is it best to leave it dry and let as much as will blow off?
