Dealer Said They Can Enable Alarm via Program: True?

The dealer is getting me a replacement vehicle with all of the same features except the alarm. The sales manager said he could probably have the alarm "enabled" because most things are all built into the car and just enabled via programming.

Is this true or no? Thanks.

Don't think so. Maybe if alarm is installed and disabled, which is highly unlikely. Let us know.

My service advisor at the dealership said my F30 would require a whole bunch of parts to enable the OEM alarm system. Sadly, they dont sell these post production.

If it were possible to retrofit an OEM alarm, you know BMW would sell it for some ridiculous price like $2000

If you want the alarm find a car with the alarm factory installed or order one built the way you want.

Sales manager is not correct. Wiring harnesses missing in cars without alarm option. Its more than just parts and programming.

Sorry, have to make it 5/5 here. It involves hardware, not just software so you are being told something that's not true.

They do not prewire the F30 328s if no alarm is ordered.

I'm talking about 135i 2008. its pre-wired, under the hood you will see a alarm connection under. as i said its been 5yrs ago. ill check my 2013 328 if it has the same wire routed under the hood.

A 2008 135i is not a F30 328, which is what this thread is about.

That was possible on the E46, but it was disabled for the E9X. I doubt it can be done on the F30 either.
