To Get MDrive you have to get the Tech package?!
So i was just reading through some information about options configurations. It says that options are very similar to regular 3-series options.
What bothers me is that to get certain things they make you tack on a whole package full of stupid options. Like I def want the Mdrive within Idrive. You can get Idrive and navigation without the tech package. Though Idrive is included in the tech package. To get Mdrive though, you must have Idrive and also order the tech package. The bummer is that the Teck package is going to probably be Loot. It will include Idrive with navigation, i pod/phone integration, HD radio, and Sirius sat. radio. My guess is that the tech package will cost around $2.5 grand to $3 grand. Though you all might want to know this. It will probable be one of the few options i get. The standard interior is not Leatherette. If you dont get premium package, you will get a cloth/leather combination. Sounds good to me! If its the same as the other models of 3 series, you probable will have to get premium to get blue-tooth. That sucks too! It looks like this cars price is going to balloon over base-price very quickly. And that is bad news for me. All this considering, the sedan is supposed to start at a guess of $58k.

You are pretty much correct and how BMW will gain more money on this car. Based on what I am reading and hearing I am going to bet the car Bases for $53,000. Most people will get the premium package and most likely the Tech, so that will probably push the car to $60,000. BMW can charge whatever they want for options, which is good for them and they can package them up however they want and split them later (Audi did this with the RS4).
The bottom line is that BMW wants everyone to think that you are getting more of a car then the previous (are you really?) that the car is therefore more. With the Dollar being so weak they need to make sure they still make a profit. What better way to do it then to make everyone think that you are getting more for your money and oh ya, the "Gotta have" gadgets which pushes the car price way up. By the way i gotta have it!

Leatherette is wack. I had it in my e30 and i didnt breath at all.
Also, it doesnt smell right. It smells synthetic, which is what it is obviously. Plus, in my e30, the ette had fake stitching! That was really lame.

Cloth/leather has always been the default seating material in the M3. Leatherette has never been offered, and leather was/has been the option. The cloth/leather in the new M3 is even better than the cloth/leather in the E46, so I'm ecstatic.............especially since I loved the cloth/leather in my E46 ///M.
