Is it me or am I right?
M = high peformace, i always think that way for some reason looking at this m4/m3 doesnt feel right for the money. for the same hp ill get a 550 or x5 50i and have more room, yes i know handling is different but come on guys what ever happen to the m logo " m is the most powerful letter in the world" if i think about a ///M i think about 500++ hp. Whatta u think m3/m4 has enough hp to earn the ///M badge or it should be 500hp? I know everyone is gonna tackle me on this one, but i wanna hear your side.

M = motorsport, not power. I think most are happy to see power being traded for weight savings (even though some wanted more weight cut), as it helps handling, braking, acceleration and even fuel efficiency. Also, the M3 doesn't have to be the fastest in its class - it just has to achieve the perfect balance of performance (and balanced performance that's forgiving and controllable at the limit) with everyday practicality. anyone who wants a faster car for less can go pick up a Vette or Z28 Camaro.

I fully agree. An X5 is definitely the way to go if you want an M4. Also, true that people in the market for an M4 are really concerned about room rather than weight. And yea, what happened to all the 500hp M3s BMW used to make??

If you want the most horsepower for your buck, buy a 2013 Mustang GT500. 662 horsepower for the price of an E92 M3. |

It is you! I don't think your right. Your comparing apples to oranges. Maybe one day in the future you will (once again?) prefer driving a performance car and not a SUV. Hell, I know I've gone back and forth over the years between the two. Best to have both, a big ass SUV and fun car. |

Because BMW M does not produce any performance cars and it's all hype. Because M products are all hype and marketing and do not live up to REAL performance cars like the 911, Corvette, C63, or RS5. Because M cars don't give their competitors a run for their money, never beating them in a lot of categories. Because BMW is not even in Motorsports or even winning races or coming back from a DTM series hiatus and sweeping Team, Driver, and Manufacturer Championships their first year back. Because it's all made up and the people that actually enjoy these cars, buy these cars, test these cars, race, tune, and follow these cars are all being deceived and... and... and its just "Marketing".
Seriously, who are you people?

i really dont think M is going in the wrong direction. they make really cool looking cars that offer great luxury and sports. overall great cars.
the problem is the competition is getting way better. also america is stepping up there game if you want a performance car. with that said, i still don't like the new M cars. I just dont like the engines as much. |

Marketing: X5M X6M X4M M6 GC M235i M135i Marketing & Motorsport (latest generation is too heavy to be pure Motorsport IMHO) M6 M5 Motorsport M3 M4 1M Have you seen how many badges there are on M Sport vehicles nowadays. Most of the M badges I see are for Marketing rather than Motorsport. |

Which one of the cars that you named is being so badly beat in its category that you think does not deserve to be in the M division, which is known for taking street made BMWs and bringing them to a higher level of performance. On the flip side, what makes you guys think you are the one who decided a what can and can not come from the M division? As if someone pinky swore to you that only sedans and coupes can carry an M badge or come from the M division to compete with the best of their rivals. Would you like BMW to come up with a separate segment which does not mention the M brand but is entirely new with no history and use none of the leverage and legacy that the brand has developed over the years so YOU can feel special with the little M? Why would you want this to happen? For a company which is more true to its roots and delivers so well on so many levels, often better than its rivals, you guys sure know how to shit on a brand because your racecar M3 shares the same badge as the balls to the wall X6M. |
