kuhmo spt or general uhp

There isnt really much coming up with a search.Im having a tough time deciding between the 2 of these.Ive used the generals before and liked them but I think the kuhmo's look better. If anyone with experience with either of these tires could give me some opinions id appreciate it.thanks

Uhhh....you're kidding right?

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25567

In short: General UHP (cheaper, last longer), Kumhos (slightly better grip). But I recall several forum members complaining about a significantly short life span on his rear Kumho SPTs (ie. only 15k or so).

No probs. It came up on the second page of search results for me...maybe that's why.

I think you will be happy with Generals (I am...my only complaint is the slightly louder tire noise). Usually these budget tires have ok dry performance but their wet performance blows goats. I am actually quite happy how these tires feel in the wet and the dry performance is pretty good too.

Although you probably might want to look at Kumho's or Falken if you run more autoX events...seems like these tires are more popular on the autoX scene...

how do you like the 245/275 setup.do you have vs7's.One thing im worried about is the tire looking too chunky and tall with that setup.I want a nice wide rear tire.thanks spacedogg.

I'm off site. When I go home tonight I will post some pictures of them on my VS7s. You will have to excuse the dirt and brake dust. Do you want a shot from the rear of the car? Or from the side?

I have some very rare rubbing w/ 245/275. I haven't bothered to roll fenders or to diagnose where the rubbing is coming from since it happens so infrequently. It happens only when the trunk or rear is loaded up and when going over a big dip or bump when heavily loaded. I think 235/265 is probably the safer route for not dealing with any rubbing.

Having said that the 245/275 provides little more sidewall protection. Although...in hindsight probably not necessary given that I'm starting to park at least 1 feet away from the curb. (I used to parallel park inches away).

If you could get a pic from the rear that would be cool.Im not sure I want to deal with rubbing.I had the generals on my old csl's and the rim stuck out further than the tire.Im worried same thing will apply to the vs7's if I go with the 265's. decisions, decisions.thanks for your help spacedogg.

I have UHP's after having PS2's and to tell you the truth there is not a huge difference. Go with the UHP's!

I'd go with the increased life span, lighter weight - with the UHP

Have you given consideration to the Kumho ECSTA MX's? I think they look the best in the ECSTA line, and they stick well too in dry conditions.

good point.I think the vs7's are too light and I need to add weight.with 350+ hp its spins them very easily.unexpected problem.

I love the generals I am a very agressive driver and they handle great. I even have taken my student out in my car at driving schools and they are amazed at these tires. They keep asking what kind are those?

Great tire, I am running the PS2s and they are amazing pieces of work. Unmatched grip in both wet and dry, not to mention pretty good tread wear.

In regards to the original subject, we sell equal amounts of both tires. The Kumhos will provide a bit more wet and dry grip but the UHPs are longer lasting. The difference is negligible and both are fantastic budget tires.

I loved the generals when I had them.not the most incredible grip on dry roads but excellent for the money.
