New 435i x-drive or 2012 650i x-drive

I was at the dealer the other day to price out a fully loaded 435xi. The current finance rate is really high and the discount is not fantastic given the car is so new. For the same price, I can essentially get a used 2012 650i x-drive. When I say used, they are actually really low mileage...ranging from 90km to 3000km....aesthetically, they are in mint condition.

The 650 x-drives are all fully loaded with the exception of the lack of M-sport package.....nice interior leather, contrast stitching, premium package, tech package HUD, LED headlamps, you name it. I think even without the M-sport package the car looks great.

I'm driving a 2004 645 currently and I really love it. Neglecting the fact that the 650 has horrible fuel economy compared to the 435, what would you guys pick?

If I was in your position, I would have picked the 650 only if it came with some sort of warranty. The 650 is a beautiful car in my eyes and im more performance oriented vs. Practicality

650i with under 2k miles for 60k? From a dealer? HMMM there must be something they are not telling you. Even at auctions, they need to be around 10k miles to be around there. If you are getting that deal I would take it. The 6 is no doubt a beautiful car, but not nearly as fun/sporty as the 4 will be. I would drive them back to back then make a decision.

If you can stomach the boat-like size of the 650, then no doubt go for it! It is literally in a totally different league than a 3 series/4 series. Gorgeous car, and as I am sure you noticed, much more upscale and refined.

Congrats! It's a great place to be in, to have tough decisions to make like these.

I'm not sure I would trade a brand new (what, 1 month old?) 645 for a 2 year old 650i. Doesn't make any sense to me.

I didn't even know that there was a 645i in the new 6 series range. Maybe it's a typo?

Yes, it was a typo, sorry, I meant I'm currently driving a 2004 654CI. I will fix that.

To clarify, the 2012 650i costs more than a fully loaded 435 (also fully loaded), but if you are doing financing, the discount and interest rate is so much better on the 650i that it turns out to be the same monthly price. And yes, the 650i does have 4 year maintenance and warranty is still valid until July 2015.

Thanks all for your opinions!

I say 650i! Drove one of the new 640i GC's this summer and it was epic. So nice.

Ah in that case that makes much more sense.

I don't know though, I'd be wary of the out of warranty costs after 2015, that's less than two years from now. I'd probably still go with the new 4.

I'd just keep the 645 you have and throw on some snow tires. Seems silly to get a new copy of what you already have.

The new 6 is way better than the last. I just think the 4 is the same car as the 6 but much smaller, and easier to deal with if you ask me. The 6 is mostly a waste of space. With a PPK or a real tune for that matter, your 435 will outrun that 650 too, and with MUCH better fuel economy.

Thanks everyone again for your opinions, I was at the dealership again today and one of my worries about the 650 was addressed....even though the model year is 2012, the in-service date was actually July 2013....so in terms of warrantee, I get 4 years starting from that date...so it's kind of like a new vehicle warrantee. That was quite re-assuring. They are also willing to give me a really good trade in deal. So tempting!

Get the 6-er since it's still under warranty.

I would get the 650i too. Just out of interest, how much is a fully loaded 435i xdrive with tax and all?
