MSRP sedan vs coupe. how much of a difference?

if i can remember right, the e36 m3 prices (coupe vs sedan) was the same. i hope the sedan this time will be at least 2-3K less then the coupe. any chance of it being greater?

It will. It has already been stated. German pricing on the sedan is less than the coupe.

Has anyone tried to figured out what the US prices are going to be based on exchange rates?

If it was solely based on exchange rates, then if we took the UK MSRP, the US M3 MSRP would be over 100 grand.

Realistic figures of the M3 coupe would be $61k base price and the sedan $58k base price.

I'd concur with this as a pretty darn close guess. Most of the debate on the coupe over the last 6 months has come up with high 50's but with the performance of the car and what it bests, I'm now putting my guess at very low 60's for the coupe, then the sedan price follows

I'm betting that the base coupe will be about $55/56k, and the base sedan will be about $53/54k.

Here's a good way to look at the speculated E92 M3 pricing.

Some of BMWUSAs 'starting at' MSRPs:

550i = $58,500
M5 = $82,900
difference of - $24,400

650i = $75,600
M6 = $99,300
difference of - $23,700

650i Convertible = $82,700
M6 Convertible = $105,100
difference of - $22,400

Total average difference of - $24,100

All of these model comparisons were between the top of the line models in their series versus the M model in its series.

Furthermore, the..

335i coupe = $40,800
335i sedan = $38,900

So, based on what the average is, we could safely speculate..

M3 coupe = $64k
M3 sedan = $61k MSRP

For those with hopes of seeing something less pricey I'll say..

M3 coupe = $61-64k
M3 sedan = $58-61k MSRP

^^^ To add to my previous post, the RS4 is compared to the E92 M3 more than any other car.

Based on Audi of America, the RS4 MSRPs at $66,910

That's $3-5k more than my estimated M3 coupe and sedan prices.

Well then you are setting yourself up for a nice surprise when the coupe comes in under $60k.

Audi, fully optioned, is $70k (no taxes/GG). No way the M3, fully optioned, exceeds that by any significant amount. I suspect the M3 with the options that you want will be less, but BMW sure goes for it with the option pricing.

I was more confident about the sub-$60k base price before the weak dollar continued its spiral down into the shitter.

If the coupe were to come in under 60k, its list price will look something like $59,600k.

I have a feeling it won't be that low in its debut year.

When/if

Do you mean if rather than when? There are only a couple possibilities:

1. You know the price right now - 99.99999% chance not possible.
2. You are so certain in your estimates you say "when" rather than "if".
3. You will be proven wrong.

Want to get in on my bet with JEllis on the $57k price point?

What about the E46 330 and E46 M3 comparision? Is it <$12k difference ($11.3k to be exact)? Explain that with your math.

And that math is dumb. Price a car by comparing it to another car which is not even in the same class from a different manufacturer ? What did you smoke?
