Rear-ended by Lexus LX470 this morning on freeway. Awesome.
Crumpled my trunk, rear bumper. Whip lash from hell. Worst of all....gotta drive around in a Malibu for the next two weeks waiting to see of the shop will do a good job. Life sucks sometimes.
Thankfully I have AAA insurance and they are badass. Already in a rental.... Fully covered. No long estimate approval. Shop can start work immediately. Highly recommend AAA. Pics later. Oh...another bonus is I told the guys at the shop I'd love replacement "blacklines" and they said no problem. Also offered to repaint and fix the lip I just bought for $100. Gonna be a long couple of weeks. Pics attached. Boot lid buckled, tailight buckled, bumper trashed, inner/rear trunk clip pushed in. Waiting for shop to call with final assessment. Hoping the frame is straight.

Ouch, sorry to hear man. Glad you're "ok" minus the lash. Don't play with that stuff though. Hope she comes back shinier then ever!

I actually had a brand new fully loaded malibu ltz as a rental car and it cruised better on the highway then my e92. Quiet, smooth, great on gas. Was better then a toyota yaris which was another option.

Thanks for the well wishes.
I have to say... the Malibu is pretty nice inside. All leather. AC blows cold as F. Satellite radio. ... Just absolutely no power. once I get my ride back I'm sure I'll feel like i'm in a formula 1 after driving this Malibu for two weeks.

Yes. The Car Fax thing is really pissing me off. I'm trying not to wig out to much as I figure I'll keep this car and turn it into a track car at some point. I usually keep my cars for a long time... .until they are dunzo anyways.
But yeah. No chance to secure any negative equity impact...especially here in CA. It's BS. Neck/back/shoulders are getting increasingly sore/throbbing. Weak sauce. The Lexus TANK/DUMP TRUCK had a small scratch on the bumper and the dumbass kid was all smiles laughing about it. I nearly laid his punk ass out there on the side of the freeway. His dad got on the phone with me trying to work me and see if I'd hold off on the insureance and try to 'work something out'. Dumbass.

Sorry about the collision and all the bs that goes with it. I'm glad that you aren't any worse off than some whiplash. Hopefully you will be feeling better soon.

I'll post some pics later. gotta resize them because e90post only allows tiny pic files. Such a pain to post pics from my phone unless I take ultra weak pics.

I have CSAA (AAA), never had an issue. Same experience, rental car the same day, car in the shop with immediate work starting with BMW parts. One key thing, you must use a AAA partner shop. Fortunately the shop I prefer is one of those. |

Yeah...very impresses so far. The shop said they use all new OEM parts. They aren't the fastest but they are a smaller shop with perfect reputation online and AAA express network. Nice not to have to sorry about arguing over a used bumper or "fixing" things rather than replacing.

Sorry to hear OP. Stories like these make it pretty real. We were completely stopped on Rt. 1 South, single file, and I see these headlights barreling towards us, so I go into the closed lane and this yahoo screeches to a halt but does not make contact with the car that was in front of us. No way of knowing whether it was the a necessary move or not. The texting or holding phone while driving is getting so old it should be no different than a DUI. I mean Keith Partridge was .08 and it was a felony. He's an alcoholic, .08 isn't even close to being buzzed. Distracted driving is a lot worse than buzzed drivers, and they should be penalized imho. Then in the end someone who didn't do anything has a crashed car that doesn't come out the same.

Agree about the phones and driving. I have had to force myself to put the phone down. We are too esslily accessible. I'm in sales/business and emails come st me 100x a day. There is always that feeling of needing to stay on top of things, be more efficient etc.
Saw one of those anti- text commercials last week and it was brutal. Middle age professional guy texting his wife and he killed a few people. Chilling. Definitely sobering stuff to think about. |

Sorry to hear about the accident - hope you are OK.
If you end up needing to get the PE replaced, would you mind asking for the damaged one back so someone can cut it open and see what it looks like inside? Take care, Rich |
