JL HD900/5 sub wiring?
With only 5 channels that means I need to either run the underseat subs in parallel or series. What is the better accepted way to run them, I haven't really looked at the stock sub specs yet? (Using Technic harness BTW)

Underseats on seperate channels is standard.
Under seats on separate channels is standard.
That a great amp but the sub channel is intended for an actual trunk sub I think. You aren't probably going to find any stock sub specs for anything but 2 ohms for a hi fi. The don't list wattage I think unless its on the speaker physically. since you are putting that high wattage amp on I think you need to look at upgrading any speakers that you are running a channel to , especialy if you have a base of Hi Fi system . All Hi Fi speakers are 2 ohm . Last edited by ctuna; 08-31-2013 at 03:29 PM.. |

It doesn't matter from an acoustical standpoint. If you have Hifi, the woofers are 2ohm, so putting them in series will result in a 4 ohm load for the amp. In L7, woofers are 4 ohm, so parallel will result in 2 ohms. HD900/5 sub channel can drive 1.5-8 ohms, but output will be reduced at 8ohm, which may not be a bad thing considering you are driving OEM subs. Be very careful, this amp will smoke those woofers in a heartbeat!

I would run 2 channels for the door mids/tweets and 2 for the under seats. You can run the rears off the head unit directly. Then save that hd900 sub channel for a real sub.
